Siilwyn··on Reassessing Wayland
Can confirm Google meat & ms teams work.
Siilwyn··on Show HN: Doggo – A powerful, human-friendly DNS client for the command line
I use `bore` which works about the same, interesting to see new options! https://crates.io/crates/bore
Siilwyn··on Fairphone 5: Keeping it 10/10?
Same here, sad dealbreaker. I hope it becomes an option for the next phone.
Siilwyn··on Will Bun JavaScript Take Node's Crown
Are you sure? From let's say the 100 web devs I encountered the past years I remember 3 using Windows, and they all used the Linux environment for development.
Siilwyn··on Teens are rewriting what is possible in the world of competitive Tetris
I like to play on Flatris: https://flatris.space/
Siilwyn··on Two Years and over 700 Websites Later
With proper srcset and sizes attributes, that serve compressed images in a modern image format you'll usually get below 1MB.
Siilwyn··on Native Rust Support on Cloudflare Workers
Had the same thought, performance is quite key for most uses I think. Still compiles to web assembly probably because they mention running it in V8.
Siilwyn··on Last Mile Redis
What do you mean?
Siilwyn··on Kill the Newsletter – Convert email newsletters into Atom feeds
There is also a new format for JSON feeds: https://jsonfeed.org/
Siilwyn··on Deno 1.6 supports compiling TypeScript to a single executable
Definitely, I do wonder how it compares in binary size. Especially the 'baseline' size of a hello world.
Siilwyn··on M1 Macs: Truth and Truthiness
Not at the moment but probably some time next year: https://www.patreon.com/marcan
Siilwyn··on Violentmonkey script to clearly mark watched YouTube subscription videos
Just updated it again as YouTube changed a bit making it even less clear what video is watched... Thought it may be useful for any userscript users out there.
Siilwyn··on Pylon – Declarative layout primitives for CSS and HTML
https://github.com/posthtml/posthtml
Siilwyn··on Yarn's Future – v2 and beyond
Typescript doesn't support typings for functional concepts that libraries like Ramda & Sanctuary use though.
Siilwyn··on Ask HN: How to optimize Electron apps?
Got you: http://seenaburns.com/debugging-electron-memory-usage/
Siilwyn··on It’s 2019 and I Still Make Websites with My Bare Hands
Erh, I did the same for small personal websites but maintaining the content and having to change things on multiple pages made me switch to a build step. I do not understand how the author would deliver a website to clients without pulling in content from a (headless) CMS.
Siilwyn··on Node.js Fundamentals: Web Server Without Dependencies
Yes, it is called `padStart`: https://devdocs.io/javascript/global_objects/string/padstart
Siilwyn··on Do I really need to get out the soldering-iron again?
I've actually had this a couple of times on my Android 7 phone listening with earbuds or headphones. It seems to happen randomly.
Siilwyn··on How Does setState Know What to Do?
This is very much personal preference. I would suggest to look at their docs & create something small for both. Plus try out their 'standard frameworks': Nuxt & Next.js.
Siilwyn··on Goodbye, EdgeHTML
Plus it would make browsers accessible for the non-tech people who don't understand tabs. Speaking from experience.
Siilwyn··on ForgJs – A lightweight object validator
With two mature packages doing the same: Joi & ajv. What made you write this?

https://www.npmjs.com/package/joi

https://www.npmjs.com/package/ajv

Siilwyn··on A new look for rust-lang.org
Yes exactly! The content targetting "system programmers" is odd as Rust is great for so much more like the examples towards the bottom about webassembly and such.

Additionally the website seems to take longer to load.

Siilwyn··on Show HN: Plek – Continuous Deployment Using Now and Fly Integrated with GitHub
Hi there, after a “soft launch” some months ago using the tool internally. Today I released a new version of Plek adding support for https://fly.io/. Would love any kind of feedback!
Siilwyn··on Ask HN: What discontinued company/product do you wish was still around?
You might like https://jukebox.today/ for listening with a group.
Siilwyn··on Sclack: The best CLI client for Slack, because everything is terrible
Wonder how this compares to [slack-term](https://github.com/erroneousboat/slack-term/)...
Siilwyn··on Ask HN: Have you adopted standardjs?
No, Prettier offers a better approach for standard rules. Otherwise I use ESLint.
Siilwyn··on Docz: It has never been so easy to document your things
This looks very similar to Vuepress.

https://vuepress.vuejs.org

Siilwyn··on Ask HN: What tool do you use for creating technical documentation?
Currently trying Vuepress. Works great so far!
Siilwyn··on I've spent the last two years building a new email client
I'm curious too! I found one interesting article about Electron eating memory with images: http://seenaburns.com/debugging-electron-memory-usage/
Siilwyn··on Hyper 2, Electron based terminal
Check out Oni: https://github.com/onivim/oni It's under heavy development, wouldn't recommend it at the moment but it looks promising.
