SidewaysView··on “Beyond the limit”: Satellites and mirrors in space pose threat to the night sky
Hear, hear! Promote this man!

Shut these ridiculous baboons out of society. Take their TESCREAL libertarian nonsense with them.

SidewaysView··on “Beyond the limit”: Satellites and mirrors in space pose threat to the night sky
(Seriously, can someone please explain how you write this paean to creepy uncle sci-fi without realizing how it sounds? Anyone?)

I understand you because I can read your posts.

(God, the fedora.)

I would think "dealing with neckbeard nerds who don't know when to sit down" was obvious. Your arrogance is astonishing and intolerable.
SidewaysView··on Odin, Wikipedia and engagement farming
It's simple: make neckbeards afraid again.

Maybe frozen fruit will finally die the death it deserves and we can get back to making the world a better place.
SidewaysView··on The KIDS Act would require age checks to get online
You'd be welcome to debate bro with the rest of the basement dwellers. Until it's time for "pop goes the Kirkoid."
SidewaysView··on The KIDS Act would require age checks to get online
Everyone who isn't a dangerous creepy loser, as a rule. We generally call that "society."

Change isn't easy. Any particular individual won't necessarily agree with every change when they first see it. But justice and accountability aren't up to the individual - they're up to society. Our duty is only to be decent people and carry that progress forward.

SidewaysView··on EU to legislate about Chat Control behind closed doors
What part of "you guys are irrelevant Internet weirdos and you're going to lose everything you thought you had" don't you people understand?
SidewaysView··on An entire Herculaneum scroll has been read for the first time
I hear Haiti has some pretty cool history too. But I'm sure you've heard it before.
SidewaysView··on An entire Herculaneum scroll has been read for the first time
You don't like what I have to say? Fine by me. Guess we'll see.
SidewaysView··on The 'papers, please' era of the internet will decimate your privacy
> Soon you'll need a passport to read a Wikipedia article

Hopefully you'll need a passport to edit a Wikipedia article, since they can't be bothered doing anything about all the neckbeards writing them.

SidewaysView··on The 'papers, please' era of the internet will decimate your privacy
Oh, not all of them. There were too many for that to be all of them. But this "secret ballot" nonsense won't protect them for much longer. Consequences.
SidewaysView··on The 'papers, please' era of the internet will decimate your privacy
And we all know why lolberts are worried about kids and privacy online... Regret voting for Trump yet, chuds? You can't hide once we know who you are.

SidewaysView··on Digital Sovereignty Becomes an Imperative as the US Reads Dutch Emails
Oh, we know you won't do anything. Y'all better learn how to listen before it's time you heard.
SidewaysView··on Digital Sovereignty Becomes an Imperative as the US Reads Dutch Emails
You think another dead white man quoting King is anything the world hasn't heard before? What rock have you been hiding under these last fifteen years? Dorks and losers all you tech bros.
SidewaysView··on Digital Sovereignty Becomes an Imperative as the US Reads Dutch Emails
Slavery is practiced today in this country. Every generation is born in whiteness and will never be free of the stain. Fuck your "freeze peach." Fuck what you think you're due. Sit! Back! DOWN!
SidewaysView··on Digital Sovereignty Becomes an Imperative as the US Reads Dutch Emails
The promise of slavers and slavery? The promise of whiteness and empire? The propaganda of the dying and dead so-called enlightenment?

What other promises have you ever had? What did you think justice meant? You losers talking of WW2 and Rome. Now sit back down.

SidewaysView··on Digital Sovereignty Becomes an Imperative as the US Reads Dutch Emails
The constitution is a piece of paper written by dead white men.

Principles have never been about that. The world has never been about that. It's never been something anyone who wasn't "that kind of nerd" could believe in. Not even up for debate.

SidewaysView··on Surveillance is not safety: A statement on the UK's latest threat to privacy [pdf]
Online is terrible for kids. Online is terrible for adults! Too many people don't have the agency or social skills to manage themselves. Conspiracy theories, anarchists and libertarians, misinformation and disinformation, weirdos and beardos and creeps of all description. People end up believing all kinds of things that just aren't real.

It'll be best for society if things are a little more regulated, a little safer. And I'm happy to help where I can. Listening to the terminally online about it would be counterproductive.

SidewaysView··on The circus freaks of open source
> Mental health issues and the ensuing harassment, shame, and stigma disproportionately affects neurodivergent and queer people [...] Crises happen to “problematic” people, too [...] I often see that people who I otherwise respect and recognize as allies and kindred spirits are participating in these rituals of humiliation, harassment, and voyeurism.

Little late for that, beardy. Much too late.

"How many neckbeards can we kill today?"

SidewaysView··on Age verification for social media, the beginning of the end for a free internet?
Honestly, I'm kind of glad this is happening. Online is a bottomless well of libertarians and anarchists and Blueskiers and QAnons. It was always a neckbeard paradise.

It's not just kids it's bad for. Too many people don't have the agency or social/emotional insight to take care of themselves.
