ShadowBlades512··on BLAKE2s Hashing Accelerator: A Solo Tapeout Journey
It would be really cool to see one of these ASIC shuttles support some form of higher speed LVDS interface that can be multiplexed in for stuff like this though I imagine there are challenges. Maybe there could be a limited number of designs that have LVDS IO on the shuttle.

I think this is very correct for studying, when I was in undergrad, if I saw the answer, I found it was more effective to skip past it and solve it later. Even more important, once I am done, I should not go look at the answer to confirm if I am right or wrong, I should try and validate the answer by looking at my solution and trying to figure out if my solution is correct or not because there are plenty of ways to "disqualify" an answer, once I learned to do this well, my grades really went up.

However, I don't always agree with the fact that we don't have the answer in front of us in many situations. There are a lot of situations beyond grade school and undergrad where you do have the answer in front of you. Sometimes it's in for form of Numpy or Matlab or Simulink. It might be someone's research publication. Replicating these by working both forwards and backwards from their libraries or results can be much more effective.

For a slowly increasing number of use cases, Lattice is starting to change that. Not quite Cyclone IV, but the ECP5 can be pretty decent for the price. Over time I think their new CertusPro-NX line is going to become interesting.

I forgot about self-heating FPGAs! I am definitely going to add that to the article at some point. This is a paper I read on this a few years ago. https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/6818753

This is definitely one of the reasons I wrote this article. To be able to see the cause/effect when a problem is very convoluted is something difficult to learn and difficult to teach. You just have to consume a lot of second hand stories and experience a few yourself.

A story I have heard several times in different instances is some light sensitivity, I think this happened to the Raspberry Pi team (PMIC transient induced by camera flash).

Author here, thanks for reading, I just scaled the VPS to hopefully handle the traffic better, hahaha
ShadowBlades512··on The Magic of the Blackboard
I don't agree either. I don't learn well in a classroom, I went through all of undergrad and grad school skipping every class and only depending on PDFs of lecture notes, PDFs of handouts and textbooks. Lectures, especially with blackboards were the absolute worst for me.
ShadowBlades512··on Behind the scenes: the struggle for each paper (2021)
I have started to at least write 4-5 bullet points per month of my job in my personal notes as a reminder of what stuff I have done. I find I will remember a lot of details as long as I have notes that remind me that a project even existed or an event happened. That has been enough for me.
