SeriousM··on All it takes is for one to work out
I met my wife also at school at 16y and we're so glad and happy to be with each other since, 25y+. You put it in the right words:

> Zero drama, mutual respect and affection, both still preserving some independence to maintain a „self".

Just the income is from me alone which frees her up to have enough time for our kids.

Having such a long time and deep relationship is quite rare, I guess.

SeriousM··on Show HN: Explore what the browser exposes about you
Here's another one: https://amiunique.org/fingerprint

It's important to point out fingerprinting, yet no ordinary user cares.

LLMs are not nondeterministic. They are infinite state machines that don't 'act' but respond. Be aware of the well hidden seed parameter.

Isn't that what make.com tries to achieve? Already at 1c per node invocation...
SeriousM··on OpenGL: Mesh shaders in the current year
It seems to me, as not so 3d savy, that 3d objects and shaders have a similar connection as html structure and css. Nowadays you need a structure of objects yet the layout, color and behavor comes from css.

In this regard, 3d scenes offer the elements but shaders can design them much more efficient than a engine ever could.

Is that accurate?

Btw, can objects modified by shaders signal collisions?

SeriousM··on Show HN: Write It Down – Personal finance tracker
And now at unexplainable 109usd/year. I really wish there would be a cheaper solution with the same mechanics.
SeriousM··on Low Earth Orbit Visualization
That would also mean that whenever I see a flat geo image, it could be a heightmap from a creator that was just too honest about scale.
SeriousM··on Claude Code is all you need
That's the definition of an advanced scaffolding tool. And yes, I subscribe to that. From time to time I use Gemini CLI for little tools I have no time to read all the docs of thinkgs I'm not used to, but in the end I need to make flow changes and be forced to understand the generated code. x10 faster bootstrap, x30 slower manual changes, 100% my codebase problem.

Compared to what? A beginner, a pro? On sundays only? LinkedIn is full of this bs. Please stop.

SeriousM··on Horse Browser
Paying for a browser is like paying for air to breath. Sure, a feature may be worth to pay but sold as a whole browser product? A user is using so much of other extensions too and the compatibility for websites (agent check) isn't discussed either.

When it comes to new employees we search for people living exactly this value. And being a nice human is a must. Everything else can be learned.
SeriousM··on How are cyber criminals rolling in 2025?
Money. And no one died because of this behaviour. So why change a running cash-machine...
SeriousM··on The tragedy of running an old Node project
We use package.lock and docker image with local folder binding to run legacy node projects. Eg. docker run -v local:inner node:12 command
SeriousM··on Is It Time to Step Away from Coding After 10 Years?
I code for 22 years and be almost 40 years old. Years ago I felt the need for the social aspect in my life and so I started another education path as social councillor beside my 4-day work week with the support of my wife. Now I finished this path and be very happy about it! I won't start changing my professional field yet I have another, better position in my current work and might replace the ceo soon. I look after my coworker and the social balance at my workspace _and_ code. You see, I still code (it's my hobby after all) but my focus shifted somewhat.

I hope you can find your way. If you want to talk just tell me :)

SeriousM··on Show HN: FlowTracker – Track data flowing through Java programs
Once I had the vision to track data over the internet, like where came the image from, on which cdn was it. Or "what did this string have seen from creation till it reached my screen". This is a step into this direction.

SeriousM··on Ask HN: How do you sync ongoing browser work between desktop and laptop?
And foe bookmark sync I use Tab Stash. It's not a fancy reinvention of syncing - it just uses the bookmarks of firefox and organises them in folders, then shows them in a beautiful useful way in a single page. This page I use for my new tab page.

SeriousM··on Ask HN: How do you sync ongoing browser work between desktop and laptop?
I use firefox sync as well, yet not with synced tabs but share singe tabs to a firefox account (PC, phone, work pc, etc.) The next time I open firefox on the target device the tabs are opened.
SeriousM··on Gallery of Graffti Removals
I'm curious too. Are they proud that people spent time removing the art? Are they sad it gets removed? Want to show how bad they do their job? Or is that just another kind of art?
SeriousM··on Launch HN: Firezone (YC W22) – Zero-trust access platform built on WireGuard
For me as very simple customer with a few devices, is that a benefit? I didn't configured any acls in my little vpn town.
SeriousM··on What happens in a mind that can't 'see' mental images
The article made me thinking if my way of "visualizing" things is limited. My kids do have a vivid imagination for visual things out of nowhere, I on the other hand need a spark or idea to get the flow going.

> Another way to think about it would be like a 3d model of the world, where I can think about my route/position/etc. through it, without having any concrete view. It’s like a 3d file without the 2d renderer.

That example just fits perfectly my perception of things. I habe a very good mental model of everything that fits well in my brain but it's sometimes hard to put them into words... yet I get better by describing "my view". Funny that I have a graphical memory but can't construct any new in my mind.
