Scroll_Swe··on Europe's company websites are mostly served by US vendors
No, we have a tech scene, Spotify, games, Telia Carrier. At least Sweden is world leading in tech and telecom and defence. (Ericsson, SAAB)

But then okay, say you want to do more.

Then do more. Not some letter from EU.

There is a focus here on office and javascript... why?

Okay if you want an EU M365, good luck.

We were and are the best.

Scroll_Swe··on Europe's company websites are mostly served by US vendors
It's not that they cannot be found.

But are they as good and is one willing to take the risk of putting your business one a smaller company vs one of the big ones?

Let me repost another comment of mine.

TLDR: Yes, ofc we use Microsoft, Amazon (AWS), Cloudflare and Cisco...

There is even mainstream press articles about it here in Sweden. "dependance on microsoft ooh so bad" etc.

I find it laughable.

Unless you have a time machine to 2005 (EC2 came out in 2006 that should have been the signal) there is no way to compete now. That train has left the platform.

Second, Nokia and Ericsson dominate mobile infra in the west, but that is good I guess as they are EU? What does USA think about that?

Third, let us say you get rid of MS. Now you have no MS but all network infra for broadband is Cisco, Huawei, Juniper etc. Good luck ripping that out. And for what?

Same with AI. Mistral was amazing at first, Le Chat. Almost as good, generous free limits, good docs. Now? Just plain bad. Deepseek is better (I dislike china so I avoid it). EU should have gone in 500% the moment Mistral showed promise.

But lately we let USA and China take the lead on everything and EU can write a strongly worded letter after about how bad it is.

People will "care" when EU starts making good stuff again.

And lastly lol, people do know everything ends in Taiwan in the end right?

I did marathon house for a bit, love it! Thank you!

1. NyQuil is not sold here. Not allowed. Probably for that reason! Us northern EUs must be smart, huh?

2. NyQuil is medication. Not what I nor the poster mean. They mean drinking for fun. hmmm whatever to say... Drinking wine, sprit, beer? For the effect of ethanol?

You understand how there is a difference? :)

Scroll_Swe··on Should DayQuil Be Legal?
Ibuprofen is hard on the kidneys and stomach too. And bleeding/clotting issues.

Sooo ya :)

Better just stay off the beer hubby.

Remember, beer makes you fat also.

>reacted with shock and upset when I told them that taking Tylenol (or anything with acetaminophen in it like Dayquil/Nyquil) while drinking can cause immediate liver damage.

Maybe your package needs to be clearer but here in Sweden it says to avoid taking with alcohol.

Or people cannot read anymore?

Scroll_Swe··on Should DayQuil Be Legal?
I wonder why it is not a more commonplace useage for suicides. Females seem to enjoy overdoes more, and men seem to enjoy violent ways. But female sucicides often "fails", seems like eating a box of Tylenols (here they come in 20 packs) would solve the "being alive" issue quite quick, no? Better not tip people off... :)

>end up needing a liver transplant

You won't get one nor should you get one if the reason is this.

It's a good darwin effect clearer/cleaner I think.

Can't read or follow simple instructions? Well maybe modern society is not for you anymore.

Interesting thank you, almost reminds me of a PS2 then, super fast memory but not very good "traditional" GPU

So... I dont want to ruin gaming more but why not get a gaming PC? Figured this out 15 years ago if its good for gaming, put some more RAM in and boom you have a workstation...

No, the issue is migrants.

Now vs 80s and the 90s.

Scroll_Swe··on Zuckerberg says AI agent development going slower than expected
Echoes the same as when AWS would mean no need for IT anymore. Is there less? Yes. Gone? No.

Good. This crap has been to normalized, especially online.

The IKEA one looks cuter :3
Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
No I live in Sweden.

You can open the window for a bit to air out, should be done even in the winter :)

Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
ah, sadly that was in my last modern one. Thankfully we can open the windows in this one :)

Best solution.

Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
But if I open a window at 700ppm, so what?
Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
I mean try it for yourself... open a window a bit unless you live in a hellhole.

Also go for a walk, unless you live in a hellhole.

Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
Can't you just open a window a bit?
Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
>With ALPSTUGA it would send already at 700ppm.

"oh no I am getting too much fresh air"

I get your point but come on.

Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
Scandinavia wins again :)
Scroll_Swe··on The bottleneck might be the air in the room
I am able to open the windows at home and at work but have to be reminded to air out, but I always feel much clearer when I do.

Also, take walks. I am lucky to be able to walk to and from work and it helps immensely.

Scroll_Swe··on Ask HN: Is anyone experimenting with different ways of using LLMs for coding?
>I've felt it too to the extent that I went down a whole new rabbit hole of what it means to be in flow state. Let me know if anybody here wants to know more, happy to post some links.

I'm not a programmer, but I very much enter a flow state working on tickets, or playing a video game on higher difficulties when everything "clicks"

I don't pay so I'm glad for the upgrade. I usually use Gemini, Mistral Le Chat (Vibe...) or Deepseek as they have way more generous free limits and I can basically spam forever.
Scroll_Swe··on Choosing a Public DNS Resolver
This is what I am referring to. But from an end-user side, one option does not work, and one does work. Then I will use the working DNS.
Scroll_Swe··on Choosing a Public DNS Resolver
Because to me even as an IT person it sounds like a good idea on the surface. To have no connections to/form ads, malware, c2.

But yes, then you happen upon your first false positive.

And you switch back to a non filtered DNS OR one that you can whitelist or control, still annoying.
