SV_BubbleTime··on 56k.rip – the 1996 dial-up internet experience
2008-2012 was pretty much the height of human civilization.

A few bad moves and it’s been quite a subjective fall.

SV_BubbleTime··on You Said No MCP
Same question… but I would assume he’s running Claude Code on a PC that is on the same network.
SV_BubbleTime··on You said no MCP
You give it a key of course! And if that doesn’t fit your security model and threat vectors, simply give the key to another MCP.
SV_BubbleTime··on Ask HN: What are you reading?
Dostoevsky, the Brothers Karamazov!

Oh hell, what truly great novel. It’s a long collection of people’s inner monologues, and it’s confusing as hell at first that every Russian has at least three names. But so good.

Before this: The Subtle Art Of Folding Space… biggest pile of shit I’ve read in years. Fuck. So stupid. If you made me pick between reading it again and a Kristin Hannah… I’d just go get my wine glass and basic bitch sweatpants now. It was supposed to be “modern sci fi” it was actually a food snob that seems like they’re in a cult and trying subtly to tell you how everyone else is so fucking stupid except the smart people that choose to be mentally superior to everyone else. Bad bad bad.

SV_BubbleTime··on How our vibe coded website looks like a designer made it
I had this out with one of my employees, they were giving me shit for using Claude Design, and just how many iterations it took to get what I wanted.

I explained that exactly what design is I just lack the skills to do it in illustrator and Photoshop but yes, no one gets it right the first time.

SV_BubbleTime··on Jeeves. Reasoning improves Jev-like decision models
“Somehow Jeeves returned…”
SV_BubbleTime··on Kids turned low-traffic NPR Spotify comments into a secret group chat
My dad took the keyboard and left the mouse. I did ok, it was annoying using char map to copy letters because there was no virtual keyboard then.

Ended up making common phrases and commands in a txt file.

SV_BubbleTime··on Nvidia wants to put a watchdog chip next to every AI agent
The theme is that you need to be scared and they don’t really care how they get there. This is the spaghetti phase.
SV_BubbleTime··on When did Google get so weird?
You do know every single European country that buys oil from Russia pays more to them than they do to Ukraine for defense… right?

Are you our there protesting the EU?

SV_BubbleTime··on When did Google get so weird?
And they are the “only ones” responsible enough to have this power. What an amazing coincidence!
SV_BubbleTime··on When did Google get so weird?
It falls apart fast because no golden retriever is finding errors in my CMake file.
SV_BubbleTime··on When did Google get so weird?
While shitting on YouTube and video…

I was taking with a family member about fentanyl zombies. They had never seen the lean/bend. So I pull up Google and click video which is YouTube results… ALL AI. All of it. All a couple months old, all filler, faked, a few scenes stitched together on repeat and AI voice reading AI script.

It is fucking amazing to me that Google let YouTube fall so far so fast.

I don’t even click a video if it’s less than a year old now. Want to see a praying mantis eat a grasshopper? Wonder how clay is refined? Better off with an 11 year old Discovery Channel clip than anything 2026.

SV_BubbleTime··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
They have issues so they had better import people who won’t share their culture and beliefs?

Sweet deal.

SV_BubbleTime··on Feds Target AI Critics as "Foreign Agents"
Oh like who the media that loves scary things? The “effective altruists” (fucking lol) that are one degree away at most from working for big tech?

My in laws don’t have a microwave because they think it nukes food… one of them mentioned rouge AIs attacking a site called huggingface by name to me… this shit is not organic.

SV_BubbleTime··on Revealing the details of how OpenAI agents hacked Hugging Face
I’m a pretty firm believer that this was intentional and that they wanted it to escape the sandbox.

Woo look at escaped our sandbox, so scary! Be scared! Be scared now! Call your representative and do tell him how scared you are!

Yeah, I mean our sandbox was a paper bag, but don’t focus on that.

SV_BubbleTime··on Feds Target AI Critics as "Foreign Agents"
Ok.

So… follow out your own line of thinking. Altman and Dario and whoever is at Google are all saying the same thing, and are all required to make moves better for business…

Scaring tue gov into regulation - is good for business.

Another mark in the “they clearly want regulatory capture” column.

SV_BubbleTime··on Claude Opus 5.5
Is it as incredible as your 11 day old account is simping hard for 5 trillion riding on like three AI companies?

I shouldn’t be, I’m still always surprised that no matter how silly and obvious the fear mongering and propaganda is… someone is always lining up to vehemently defend it.

This you? https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49815127 or do legitimate companies need stealth PR campaigns?

SV_BubbleTime··on Claude Opus 5.5
Then what? They make a case to be profitable on their own? Oh noes. The horror!

Or, they fail because the current model is massively sustainable? Also oh noes?

SV_BubbleTime··on Claude Opus 5.5
It’s just another cry for regulatory capture which imo is the only way they stay afloat at their current direction.

China is literally only a single step behind and willing to drop free models just to undercut the US companies.

I’m for it because I don’t want another massive Google or Meta.

SV_BubbleTime··on Spymarks, Not Watermarks
Have you read anything about the feature?

They’re asserting that all the audio is done on device, and the results of encrypted so they can’t access them even from the backups.

Unlike… EVERY… other tech company, it is in Apple’s interest to be privacy-focused.

Even if you just have to believe them, which you do pretty much, they’re the biggest name pushing for privacy in the world right now. They make more on selling devices than they make on ads and behaviors. It’s in their interest to not lie.

SV_BubbleTime··on Spymarks, Not Watermarks
Yea, it’s AGI, and it’s been really helpful! Oddly enough it’s just really loves sharing cat memes with the other instances! Weird, but not at all like all those dooms day scenarios guessed it would be…
SV_BubbleTime··on Spymarks, not Watermarks
Apple’s always on watch has a declared 15 second buffer for live audio, and a worse scenario of summarizing your conversations for later but.. they tell you about it proudly. They also tell you how they’ve managed to do it while keeping privacy focused.

It’s your choice if you believe them or not, I like Apple and I wouldn’t use that feature.

The pretending that this is the same thing, that Apple is sneaking something past you when they’re showing you that they’re trying to do it right is a bad faith argument.

SV_BubbleTime··on Qwen Image 2.1
> and the kind of slept-on Boogu-Image 0.1

Not slept on at all. It was absolute trash, and I’m super curious why people pretend otherwise. There isn’t a single thing that model did better than any temporal peer.

SV_BubbleTime··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
What is the new phrase? The moat was always ‘taste’, or something?
SV_BubbleTime··on Measure internet censorship
As an aside… the if there was a real system out there that was trustworthy, it would have all of this and it would be the evidence you actually need to trust it.

If someone had a secure system for some of the worst stuff out there and it lasted more than a minute, pay attention because they might have actually solved some real problems.

SV_BubbleTime··on Photon-Emission-Guided Laser Fault Injection Enables RP2350 Secure Debug
It’s two power supplies, two cores, lockstep, and an HSM they hype up… I’m pretty sure I would need two emps and a high precision rig at the minimum.
SV_BubbleTime··on Gemini hacked three companies in first known breakout by Google's AI
No dumbass NFT was finding errors in my CMake file.
SV_BubbleTime··on Gemini hacked three companies in first known breakout by Google's AI
The embarrassing part is that it might be working.

I was at my in laws… these people have a landline they can’t imagine getting rid of, an emergency only cell flip phone, don’t own a microwave…

And they’re asking me if I heard about “OpenAI’s rouge agents hacking huggingface”.

This is not a joke. They said huggingface. I was surrounded by four walls in which I never would have bet someone else’s money that I’d ever hear the two words put together in that order.

It’s a formalized propaganda campaign. Watch, it’s about to split on hard political lines too, Obama is out there with a suspiciously “for the children” AI regulation push for midterms.

SV_BubbleTime··on Gemini hacked three companies in first known breakout by Google's AI
They all want that regulatory capture so badly.

It’s embarrassing anyone is falling for this.

SV_BubbleTime··on Photon-Emission-Guided Laser Fault Injection Enables RP2350 Secure Debug
I have an application on an SPC58 that I really want to know more about. But unfortunately; it’s a dual core with lockstep. So if it could be done; I think that automatically double-pluses the budget.
