SV_BubbleTime··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
LOL, flutter/dart are pretty awesome and we have yet to encounter something that needed improvement.

We have small shims for IOS or Android BLE. But otherwise the discussion of should you go native is really a discussion of how many employees do you have to throw with this?

Still loving flutter over here!

The vastly undersold topic to all of these is how many developers do you have?

We have the option of using flutter, or not launching an app at all. The concept of going full native is a non-starter.

I basically could not care what Shopify is doing because they have hundreds or thousands of people.

lol, it’s sort of pathetic to cover for a terrorist group with ”but they run a mailing list”. No one is buying that.

I’m sure their helpful functions will be picked up by another group that wants to do good work without USAID money.

I find it really strange they don’t mention the zoom magnification.

It was necessary because a group of billionaires (Joyce Foundation) decided they were going to do a run around congress and engage in lawfare for their goals.

It’s nonsense to pretend it came out of no where for no reason.

Is Gmail used for anything else? Lots, right?

Now, what about A/I group? Ah… well, there is your answer.

SV_BubbleTime··on A/I shuts down
No other industry needed that law. The PLCAA was put in place in 2005 because anti-gun specifically devised a plan to sue gun makers in lieu of any success in changing gun laws.

It is absolute nonsense to ignore why the law exists while you complain about it existing.

Remember AMP?

Baby steps and they’ll try again.

It’s not a tax on the gun though. It’s a tax to exercise the right, identical to the poll tax.
SV_BubbleTime··on Adult Film Producer Unmasks Prolific 'John DOE' Torrent Pirate as Meta Executive
That’s harder hitting psychology in comedy than I’ve ever seen an example of the other way.
SV_BubbleTime··on Adult Film Producer Unmasks Prolific 'John DOE' Torrent Pirate as Meta Executive
I would think a Meta Executive who was into torrenting would know they likely had enough to lose to use something other than their home IP address.
SV_BubbleTime··on Hackers had a live feed of every ID verification company scanned for over a year
Agreed, but I like that the “requiring ID is racist but only in the USA” crowd doesn’t like the direct relation.
SV_BubbleTime··on Hackers had a live feed of every ID verification company scanned for over a year
So… requiring an ID to buy a gun is also an unconstitutional tax on a right?
SV_BubbleTime··on O&O ShutUp10 – The antispy tool for Windows 10 and 11
The “million eyes” argument has massive exceptions, among the top of my head is OpenSSL’s HeartBleed, a critical and extremely popular security suite that had a simple overflow issue for a decade or longer.

People don’t read the source. And chief among them, statistically, is you.

Open Source is ideal but not a deal breaker.

>when this alcoholic is the only one that works properly for the sort of audio and 3D/VFX work

I mean, that seems universally truer than not.

If you’re talking some nonsense, silly singularity… than whatever, don’t care.

But if you’re asking when a model has a sustainable general intelligence, for me, it’s pretty easy…

When it makes financial sense to run it 24 hours a day.

So…

Words out of a magic box on a computer can’t make you kill yourself. Perhaps the people that would use that as encouragement are already mentally ill enough that it really doesn’t matter what the trigger is?

On a more callus but fully serious note, evolution starts out physical, that the species that don’t eat and breed as well, die. What happens when you remove that? When life is so safe that you basically wont stave, get eaten, catch a disease, don’t really need to compete all that hard for scarce resources, etc? Do you think evolution just stops? Or perhaps does a social or mental evolution become the predominant differentiator for successful reproduction over time?

Come on Nancy... Let's just end this please.

... Yep, I feel that.

I have interacted with Claude and realized that we were probably both thinking that. Both convinced synchronously that the other is an absolute moron.

It was so brutal in 2006 that it took me nearly 20 years to shrug it off and try again.

I’m not proud of this, but it’s the truth.

SV_BubbleTime··on Doctors are finally learning to manage antidepressant withdrawal
Fair.

But imo the issue with that might be that “just man up and go take a walk” may still be better advice than “hey kid with your underdeveloped brain… take this maybe psychoactive drug that absolutely changes your brain chemistry in ways we absolutely do not understand causing almost certain addiction with effectively zero supervision unless you self-report murderous and psychotic tendencies! Don’t mind that I’m making kickbacks on every subscription!!”

In terms of possible damage to self and others. And to long term society.

SV_BubbleTime··on Doctors are finally learning to manage antidepressant withdrawal
What if the drugs just make us... better?

What if, indeed. You are in a thread that discusses the side effects and addiction.

>Seems to me

Are you a good candidate for a control? Let me ask you seriously… could you stop taking them and function?

“Seems to me” that you are at best a little biased here.

SV_BubbleTime··on Doctors are finally learning to manage antidepressant withdrawal
lol, I know plenty of people offline that are addicted to this shit too. It’s just that this forum and Redditors cheerlead about their addictions willingly. Most people are shyer about it.

I mean… are you saying this is effectively an SSRI forum?

Actually, you know what? Tracks.
