SUr3na··on Books and lectures don't work
> Reading “thinking fast thinking slow” should not take 8-9 hours... it could easily take 50 (after all, it represents many years and thousands of hours of work by the preeminent thinker on the subject).

but would it really? a good way to know is by letting the author teach you the book. do you think it will take 50 hours? think of university courses in which the teacher is teaching their own book. they will not go through every line and details although they must have found the details important enough to be put in the book; yet you will learn key ideas that will help you grasp the subject.Even if you learn the details in depth ,when they are not useful for you, you will eventually forget them.

As for divine comedy, It is a work of art that can be interpreted in many ways , it inspires many people in different ways that even the author would not have imagined.

so if you spend 50 hours reading a non-fiction do you enjoy all of those hours? do you remember all the details you went through? if you are only going to remember some of the key ideas then why bother spending 50 hours on it?

SUr3na··on Adults learn language to fluency nearly as well as children: study
This is interesting because it addresses "second language", not just another foreign language.Learning a third language is much easier than the second one.
SUr3na··on Strategies, Tips, and Tricks for Anki
I am not a hardcore anki user but in my experience the trick is to avoid converting learning materials to anki, convert learned materials into cards. first learn what you want to learn inside out, make some examples for yourself then try to convert your knowledge into a card. In this way you will know exactly what you should write down on the card.
SUr3na··on Aphantasia: 'My mind's eye is blind'
I don't quite get this idea. Is the ability to draw reflection of a sign (as if it was in mirror) or transposing a matrix or 'seeing' the graph of a function in my mind the same thing? I am terrible at remembering faces in details I can defiantly say if I saw a face before in my life or not but if you tell me to describe face of people who I lived with for many years I can't "see" them in my mind.
SUr3na··on Russia blocks ProtonMail
They can still encrypt their emails in many other ways Just like people did before protonmail existed.
SUr3na··on Russia blocks ProtonMail
What Exactly protonmail offers you over any other disposable email if you are sending bomb threats? I think this was just a an excuse made just to have an excuse.
SUr3na··on Russia blocks ProtonMail
I didn't mean to say Russia is a third world country .but I live in a third world country which closely follows Russia's rules.Apology to all Russians misinterpreting my comment :)

As for the complete nonsense you have something working for 5 years suddenly it gets news coverage with no significant usage increase and is blocked . I have no source but this is the exact case where I live. there's something ,like a publicity threshold. It sounds silly and irrational because it is silly and irrational. Or perhaps I am wrong and some experts were analyzing protonmail for 5 years and now came to the rational conclusion to block it.

SUr3na··on Microsoft proves the critics right: We’re heading toward a Chrome-only Web
I would use it and recommend it to people I know, as I already do. But how about no browser at all? How about I use my own video player to watch a file I received over network? We have essentially operating systems(web browsers) with pipelines, processes and sandboxing just to be completely ignored by websites which instead shove a message "install our app" down our throat.
SUr3na··on Microsoft proves the critics right: We’re heading toward a Chrome-only Web
You need around 70mb of sheer complexity to render a page fully correct and you need millions of dollars to build a competitor that would lose because level of complexity is increasing daily .By the time you cover what you thought the web was ,the most used browser chrome had already came up with more complexity to add to the web.Web sucks and this helps the monopoly.
SUr3na··on 30th Anniversary of the World Wide Web [video]
Thank you and for existing dear world wide web and happy birthday,Although I can't watch your birthday because my mere CPU can't handle the complexity of this website.

Thank you for adopting The Greatest language:JavaScript .I hope to achieve a certain level of fluency in Javascript that it becomes first language of my children.

Thank you for helping us reinvent operating systems and name them web browsers just to be able to render your standards and connect to you with our hearts, over http of course.

Thank you for enabling communications and freedom all around the world .Now I can ease my mind knowing that Google predicts when I die and would show adequate coffin ads to my family weeks before the incident.

Happy birthday.

SUr3na··on Russia blocks ProtonMail
This is true .I thought Iran followed Russia in blocking telegram but it was not the case.Anyhow higher publicity means higher chance of censorship in certain countries.
SUr3na··on Russia blocks ProtonMail
If you lose your phone number gmail asks you these: -Last password you remember -Last time when you logged in -Your security questions -Devices connected with your Google account Just to tell you gmail is unable to recover your account. I am not sure but I think the more you try to recover it the worse it gets (which is understanble). So either you have the phone number and you magically get everything else in those questions right(what counts as right is the real question), or you enter a rabbit hole and get further from getting your account back the more you try.I'm not blaming this system entirely but apparently nothing matters except your phone number when it comes to recovering your account.
SUr3na··on Russia blocks ProtonMail
I switched to protonmail after losing my gmail password. It was literally impossible to get my account back thanks to gmail "security features". The 500mb free plan is enough for personal usage. I hope other 3rd world countries don't block it following Russia.interestingly this happened not long after EU €2 million award.Probably someone read the news and googled protonmail, saw "encrypted email" in Wikipedia page and decided to block the whole thing.
SUr3na··on An Honest Living
Antisemite means "opposing people of Semitic ethnicity". Surprisingly Arabs are also Semitic people. Therefore whichever side you pick you can't be antisemitic by definition. You can be anti Zionist and oppose people based on thier actions and ideas, not their ethnicity. I saw many people using this nonsense argument that according to a paper written by some people the definition of anti Semitism is opposing Israel. This is falsely accusing people who criticize Israel and labeling them as racist.
SUr3na··on Slack closes account of an Iranian user living in Canada
My intention was to show that in reality it doesn't matter whether a software is open source or proprietary like sourceforge .golang has nit blocked Iran .I highly doubt anyone among go community and creators would think or know about this issue . it is only blocked because of app engine just like many other non-google websites which use app engine.
SUr3na··on Slack closes account of an Iranian user living in Canada
It's ironic that Golang.org is not accessible from Iran because of app engine.also several non proprietary repos like sourceforge. The only way to get go lang's source code is through github. It is only a matter of time untill Microsoft decides to block github for Iranians as well.I don't know why github is not currently blocked but I would not be surprised if it gets blocked.
