RyanONeill1970··on The new Google? Baidu's big plans to bust out of China
If their web spider is any indication of how fit they are, they really need to shape up.

The Baidu spider is the IE6 of web bots, it hammers sites, fumbles around breaking everything with its crap JavaScript compiler and causing so many errors that it's easier to just block it. The same with Yandex.

I really hope they fix it, but a search for the Baidu user agent will show a lot of results just wanting to block it. They need to fix that.

Looks like a template as http://KashFlow.com seems eerily similar. Better that than a custom design though, I imagine it saved a fair bit of money.
RyanONeill1970··on Want to Block Common Passwords? Sorry, That is Patented
Even when software patents are not allowed by law in the EU?

Edit: A quick Google found this, seems I would be OK. http://answers.onstartups.com/questions/21560/what-happens-w...

Could someone clarify something here?

If I'm based outside of the US and my servers are outside of the US, these software patents would not affect me and I could implement them without risk?

I understand the site could be blocked from US browsing but that would seem extreme, especially if I registered a country TLD like .co.uk.

In plain English, I don't these patents apply to my country (UK) and are not enforceable here. But I could be wrong.

You would hope so, in fact I have a business that I'm working on that has dumb obvious patents filed in the US but I'm a UK citizen.

I still reckon they'll come after me though, they love to waste time and think because they 'had an idea' that they own the rights.

RyanONeill1970··on Beg HN: Share some ideas.
Ideas by proxy don't work, you have to have something that matters to you. If I gave you my list of ideas, you'd laugh at 'em and say how crap they are even though I reckon I could turn them into decent businesses.

If you are in the UK and want to work with me for a year, I'd consider it. I've got too much on my plate and plenty of ideas to explore.
