It's a good article and I'm sure if it works for all those major brands it's worth trying. However, it doesn't work for me. I prefer to know more about what a company is, or does, before I sign up. I'll Google them and often not come back. I have way too many emails coming already without more from a site I have to sign up to just to check them out.
I thought Tangled was Disney's finest moment. Two strong leads and lots of humour, plus Maximus the horse. I cringe at some films, I have a son and a daughter and I hate it when males are stupid and females are just holding out for a hero. But these type of films deal with stereotypical character types that are quickly recognised. The geeky kid has glasses, the princess is pretty, the muscular hero often doesn't pick up an non-verbal cues. What really freaks me out is the way the characters' eyes (especially princesses) are getting bigger every year!
I agree with the comment about Tesla - it's madness that most cars are still using the internal combustion engine! One mundane but important factor for people driving long distances are drinks holders! My wife's Audi has really crap drinks holders that don't work unless the drink is half empty (or full).
English food is improving but there are still some shockers to be found. Having a molten lump of cheddar cheese in a curry when you are expecting paneer (as stated on the menu) makes you wonder if the chef tries their own food.
This sentence shows that discrimination doesn't just happen in America:
"if my aim was to escape aggressive policing and racial disadvantage, I would not be heading to Hackney."
However, there are less shootings in the UK.
I like the way that services like Patreon can bring fans closer to the musicians. I'm an indie novelist and while my sales are not nearly high for me to write books as a career I regularly get tweets etc nudging me to get the next book out. If this interaction can be improved for both parties so much the better. Mind you - it may not work with artists/writers with huge amounts of fans!
Looks great. Although my Slack is continually pinging with ideas and tasks from my boss this morning. I'm not sure that him being able to talk to me as well would help! In all seriousness though sounds like another great tool that slots into Slack and helps make virtual teamworking SOOOO much easier.
Uber is a true disruptor but it can't be worth $40B! It's got massive growth but does it have the ability to keep control? Like mikehawkins I think the market share will dilute. Look at what happened with Meercat and Periscope.
