Technically true, although tools like Kali existed which could simulate IPX style networks over the internet. I know this because I played a substantial amount of Mechwarrior 2 online when it designed only for local network play!
Alcohol appears to be going in the same direction.
I think the driver for me is routine. The more routine, the faster everything seems to fly by.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here, is anyone else getting this?
I left the catch-all on my domains email going for a year or two before I had to disable it. The sheer amount of house blueprints, sensitive information about transfers etc was overwhelming.
This is the scene I'm thinking of: https://youtu.be/70FLqFWJMNk?si=0faCWRS9aNpVTil4&t=68
You don't need to know that the character is a mentat. The story works perfectly well without that knowledge. But if you do then it adds a second layer to the scene. Much like watching something like the early Simpson's is even better if you have a grounding in the novels and movies that they're parodying but isn't required to get the show.
> A masterclass in "Show, don't tell" is the intro to Pixar's "Up". If you haven't seen it, you absolutely must.
I have seen it quite some time ago, please point out some clips where you feel the show don't tell is executed well.
This embodies show don't tell and it works amazingly.
1. Being able to have the AI fill in a track in the song, but use the whole song as input to figure out what to generate. Ideally for drums this would be a combination of individual drum hits, effects and midi so I'm able to tweak it after generation. If it used the Ableton effects and drum rack then that would be perfect.
2. Take my singing and make it both sound great and like any combination of great singers (e.g. give me a bit of Taylor Swift combined with Cat Power)
I've had a play with the style transfer between singers (bullet point 2 above) but when I last tried it, it was garbage in / garbage out, and my singing is garbage.
What I don't want: To just generate a whole song. Adobe does this style of assistive AI well in the photo editing space but no one seems to have brought it to audio yet.
It's amazing how AI has caused people to completely lose their minds. I think it's something to do with the fascination humans have with things that embody human-like characteristics (parrots / crows being a good example) coupled by it lighting up the parts of our brain normally reserved for religion.
Is AI useful? 100% - I use it as an aid all the time. Is it going to continue to grow exponentially? Well, it's already slowed down quite a bit compared with gpt2 to gpt3 to 3.5 to 4. Is it going to replace every worker? This is crazy talk.
Games used to be split by disk files, i.e. 1.44mb individual files, and I would download 1 - 10 overnight while my friend would grab 11 - 20. We'd later call each other and use Zmodem to build a full set each.
Fun time to be on the internet.
