RocketSyntax··on Launch HN: Ditto (YC W20) – Keep product text in sync from design to production
i use diff messaging pretty much everywhere based on the medium of communication and audience
RocketSyntax··on Introduction to Pluto.jl
so every time i change a variable i train my neural network? yikes. non-linear <3

front end programmers coding for data science use case <x3

RocketSyntax··on Introduction to Pluto.jl
Hard disagree.
RocketSyntax··on Ask HN: What are the three most expensive tools/services that you use?
rent.
RocketSyntax··on The Fourier transform is a neural network
I think the author's point is that every data transformation can be represented as a neural network. Neural nets are just many degree polynomials.
RocketSyntax··on Ask HN: Does anyone else find the AWS Lambda developer experience frustrating?
I was blown away that the service has been around for so long yet the process of installing packages was so manual
RocketSyntax··on Product-focused and sales-focused companies
Product is already market-focused. As a career product manager that has also worked as a software engineer and a salesman - I find your article offensive and polarizing.
RocketSyntax··on Social networks neither ‘social’ nor ‘networks’ – what should we call them?
I like it =)
RocketSyntax··on Svalbard's Alcohol Quotas
lots of airports do duty free. it's a good way to get regional hooch on the cheap.
RocketSyntax··on “Why We Sleep” Is Riddled with Scientific and Factual Errors
sure, some of it is wishy-washy, but i've made adjustments based on it (no caffeine after 11:30am), and my health has dramatically improved.

now i'm dreaming every night AND waking up with programming solutions because of it.

RocketSyntax··on Svalbard's Alcohol Quotas
iceland taxes the heck out of it, and there are only a few stores where you can buy
RocketSyntax··on Don’t use environment variables for configuration
appdirs
RocketSyntax··on The Python Package Index is now a GitHub secret scanning integrator
would love to see tighter integration with some GitHub Secret/ Action publishing
RocketSyntax··on Debranding Is the New Branding
my guess? they all need better online/ app presence and they are realizing that their photo-realistic logos look like trash on the web
RocketSyntax··on Speed Is the Killer Feature
Speed is a cop out. Engineers love to focus on performance.
RocketSyntax··on 3500 packages uploaded to PyPI, pointing to a malicious URL
it's a bit crazy how easy it is to upload executables
RocketSyntax··on OneAPI – A cross-industry, open, standards-based unified programming model
Is "oneAPI Deep Neural Network Library (oneDNN)" an alternative to ONNX?
RocketSyntax··on Research software code is likely to remain a tangled mess
jupyterlab github issue advocating for documenting research: https://github.com/jupyterlab/team-compass/issues/121
RocketSyntax··on Show HN: Ray.so – Create images of your code
font size =)
RocketSyntax··on Launch of the New Data.gov Catalog
when i try to open this dataset on nuclear power plants

RocketSyntax··on 23andMe to merge with VG Acquisition Corp. to become publicly-traded company
The data they gathered was less than 1% of the genome. Don't buy in.
RocketSyntax··on Product Manager vs. Product Marketing Manager vs. Product Owner
I'd say PO isn't so much involved in determining the "what" to build, they are moreso executing on it. engineering manager is more of the team's boss
RocketSyntax··on Product Manager vs. Product Marketing Manager vs. Product Owner
sounds like your org doesn't understand what product really does
RocketSyntax··on Product Manager vs. Product Marketing Manager vs. Product Owner
Depending on where your product is in its lifecycle, you need to rotate between all 3 activities. You shouldn't be doing the same thing all the time.

After a big build, I'll tell the engineering team, hey, the requirements are going to be fuzzy for a while. look the the engineering manager while I work on launching this thing w commercial teams, and figuring out what we should build next. when that's done, I'll tell the commercial team the same thing about my commercial support

RocketSyntax··on Sequencing your DNA with a USB dongle and open source code
Also, this is not new. It's been around for yrs
RocketSyntax··on Sequencing your DNA with a USB dongle and open source code
Maybe if you ran the test 100 times and did some pileups by position it would be usable in comparison to WGS
RocketSyntax··on NumPy 1.20
Hmm. I am checking dtypes via `np.floating` and `np.signedinteger`. What will this change to?
RocketSyntax··on Ask HN: Which book do you want to read next?
It's okay. Check out Parallel Worlds.
RocketSyntax··on AWS announces forks of Elasticsearch and Kibana
I'm saying AWS offers EMR and MSK. Which puts Databricks and Confluent in a weird spot.
RocketSyntax··on AWS announces forks of Elasticsearch and Kibana
This feels like a spin? Isn't AWS biting hand that feeds them? They need a win-win strategy for open source devs. It's hard enough to compete with their version of your service (spark, kafka) without them forking your project. what's next, are they going to fork spark and kafka?
