Where was the targeted harassment in Godot's case? Unless you call someone saying "focus on the engine, not on politics" as being harassment.
Rinzler89··on Godot team block dev for political reasons
Wrong. That was only one person who made the woke comment which only got 8 likes. Meanwhile, there where hundreds of other people who got blocked and made no such comments and were blocked only because criticizing the product and the poor actions of the CM. That's the real community.

If the CM only blocked that one person with the woke comment and kept quiet, everything would have been fine, but instead she kept antagonizing the community using the woke comment as fuel to start a fire based on her own world and political views as if that one comment represented the whole community, so the community told her to drop it and focus on the product instead not on politics, then she started banning all those people.

If one comment of one person is enough for someone to loose their shit and go on a tirade about identity politics on the org's social media account and ban hundreds of people untreated to the offending comment, they must have some rice paper thin skin, low emotional maturity, or untreated mental issues either of which make them unfit for such positions.

Pretty much. You need to hire product people in public facing roles who are passionate about the product and knowledgably of the industry the product operates in, not people who are only passionate about pushing an agenda or social issue revolving around their identity based on gender/sexual orientation/race, which have nothing to do with the product itself.

>we made a tweet that unexpectedly led to a wave of harassment directed at our staff and community.

What terrible gaslighting here, shifting the blame from their community manager in charge doing the harassments, to the community itself as being the harassers.

Rinzler89··on Godot team block dev for political reasons
>community they usually deal with is not exactly great

You mean their paying customers/donators?

>But as seen here it can be also extremely destructive position.

That's why you should vet those people and not let in those wishing to use their new position to put down others based on disagreements on personal belief.

It's funny how the job is called a "Community Manager" yet the person they gave that job to has never built a community themselves in order to manage it, they're just terminally online, mentally ill activists abusing their newly given power to enforce their personal views on everyone else across the community they're now in charge of to compensate and virtue signal for the social unfairness they see in society/the world, as if it's their personal account and not that of a company/employer.

How the hell did they decide to give such a person such an important publicly facing job is beyond me.

What would have been the alternative for them? Excluding the US, software is not a high margin business.

>Nvidia ended up buying 3dfx and using some of their SLI tech for a while

The SLI Nvidia used had nothing to do with the tech from 3df besides the initials and the general idea of the concept, especially since the way the Nvidia GPUs worked at the time Nvidia dropped SLI was totally different than the way 3dfx's 3d accelerators worked.

Based. The more I read about TSMC, the more I like them.

>Class turnover is often a good thing.

The results of the communist revolutions, especially in Russia, would beg to differ. Instead of being oppressed by the monarchy like they were before, the common people were then oppressed by the soviets. Whoop-de-do. You still have a gun to your head it's just who's behind the trigger that's different.

Would you also apply this logic today? As in, would like a new class turnover in the country you live in hopes to fix the rampant wealth inequality?

Because I don't think the poor would end up killing and robbing the likes of Trump, Biden, Zuckerberg, Bezos or Musk, but most likely the likes of you and me.

Getting new management isn't always a good idea. The rich have the resources to move their wealth and be welcomed somewhere safe like Switzerland or Monaco, while only the poor have to suffer the consequences of the uprising.

Rinzler89··on 91% of polled Amazon staff unhappy with RTO, 3-in-4 want to jump ship
Pretty much. It's just the poor getting new management.
Rinzler89··on 91% of polled Amazon staff unhappy with RTO, 3-in-4 want to jump ship
Your examples are strictly former colonies of Britain. This was not the case in Continental Europe where the British had no colonies.

By that logic Nazi Germany should also be credited for improving democracy around the world since its war with Britain, France, Netherlands and Belgium made them so weak post-WW2 that it allowed their former colonies to gain independence.

Rinzler89··on 91% of polled Amazon staff unhappy with RTO, 3-in-4 want to jump ship
The land owning gentry ofc. People still mistakenly romanticize the French revolution being about the poor killing the rich by guillotine, when it was actually the rich nobility (land owning gentry) getting the royalty beheaded via the publics' uprising. Same with the Russian revolution that got the Romanovs killed and replaced by the Soviets.

It changed the USA, it didn't change "the world". Where I'm originally from, nothing changed after the US revolution. Why do Americans seem to think the world always revolved around their country?

The beauty of Linux is that we can have a new popular Linux distro. It doesn't have to be Debian based. It can be Opensuse, Fedora or Arch based.

If God would have wanted us to not eat beef he wouldn't have made cows so delicious, instead he would have made them poisonous or something, like those frogs in the Amazon (the Brazilian one, not the Bezos one).

>They are. "Obesity in India has reached epidemic proportions in the 21st century, with morbid obesity affecting 5% of the country's population"

5% of the population is hardly enough to call them fat but fair enough, seems like the entire world is getting fatter as they become more wealthy and industrialized.

Rinzler89··on Scientists who laid groundwork for weight-loss drugs win Lasker medical award
Just because you find something flame bait doesn't always mean it is. My point still stands: There's noting stopping Americans and rich westerners (lest of all money and access to healthy food) from exercising and eating right, except their own laziness, and your answer did nothing to answer this when many other countries who are not Japan don't have such massive obesity rates proportional to rich western countries.
Rinzler89··on Scientists who laid groundwork for weight-loss drugs win Lasker medical award
What a lazy garbage answer. Would you be OK if I also answered you with an AI generated answer and we just keep going back and forth with AI generated trash? That's why I'm flagging your comment. Either provide an original answer based on your own opinion on the topic so we can have a constructive discussion even if we disagree on it, or don't write anything at all instead of outsourcing your critical thinking and personal opinions to ML bots.
Rinzler89··on Scientists who laid groundwork for weight-loss drugs win Lasker medical award
The question is why aren't people in India, China, Japan, Vietnam, Africa, SE-Asia fat? It's not like hyper palatable foods don't exist in all cultures.

Why only some rich western countries with large disposable incomes and cushy lifestyles have a problem with people eating way too much?

Why do some people in the west (especially the US) always need to outsource the responsibility of their own bad actions and lifestyle choices to "societal factors and culture"?

Am I fat because I'm a lazy pig? No, it's obviously society's and the food's fault lol.
