<Layperson>

Just as acceleration through space causes [the same effect as] gravity, could regular gravity be the movement through TIME?

Could gravity be a facet of time as electricity is to magnetism and vice versa? and the reason we cannot "isolate" gravity is because it's interwoven with time?

But then it would be weird that photos who don't experience time are affected by gravity..

Or maybe space, time and gravity are a trinity?

(no I'm not high, but maybe I should be)

Razengan··on Feds Target AI Critics as "Foreign Agents"
Forget about AI, LLMs, governments, Al Whomever, and even the internet for a while,

do you agree or disagree with the following:

- Knowledge should not be gatekept.

- At this point in our civilization, a single human cannot learn all of accumulated human knowledge, let alone remember it and master it.

- It's increasingly difficult to make progress in frontier fields without mastering a lot of other fields first ("shoulders of giants") or to even navigate through all the laws and social institutions governing daily life.

- Groups who employ many people to pool their knowledge have an exceedingly broad advantage over a single person.

> AI as a political project is precisely very authoritarian.

It can also level the playing field.

Every human SHOULD have access to all human knowledge at their fingertips, and a personal assistant to help them navigate through it.

Razengan··on There is no epidemic of loneliness, but there is an epidemic of scurvy
Loneliness™ is something you can feel even when you're surrounded by people, who're good to you and treating you nicely etc.

On the surface it can seem similar to Depression: "What do you have to be so sad about??"

It can be similar internally too: a vague sense of not-quite-doom, or just an invisible wall in your ability to feel "happy"

That all the people who hang out with you and laugh with you, are not really your friends if push ever comes to shove, that you're going to be alone in the things you care about, even if you have a loving partner, etc.

Or maybe just even simply feeling out of place in the overall culture you live in..

Razengan··on There is no epidemic of loneliness, but there is an epidemic of scurvy
"There is no epidemic of loneliness" say the people who don't know what loneliness is (by the very fact that they have channels to broadcast anything, and colleagues to study such things with etc)

≈ "Just stop being so depressed!" reddit.com/r/thanksimcured

What's undeniable is the disgusting monetization (and control) of connecting people.

Razengan··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
We really need to tackle the cancerous nature of "advertising" as a problem at the civilization level.
Razengan··on OpenAI is well positioned to fast-follow Jev

Razengan··on Frontier AI on Your Own Hardware
> This, I think, is a civilization-scale problem we will need to confront in the next 20-ish years.

Humans will have to redefine what it means to "earn", to "deserve", to "succeed", to be "responsible", to exist...

We should have confronted this when computers and factory robots first appeared, but we keep putting it off and kicking it down the road until it won't be possible anymore.

Hell we should have addressed this during the Industrial Revolution, but instead we added minute hands to clocks so workers would have to work more for less: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Em96NVxO9Q "So this is progress - Terry Jones 1991"
