QuantumG··on Can LLMs accurately recall the Bible?
One day you'll understand how valuable it was to have a person with knowledge and their own thoughts.
QuantumG··on Can LLMs accurately recall the Bible?
Whereas you would previously (for your first example) have a conversation with the guy at the video store and he'd not only tell you the movie but also recommend something else you might like.

What you really want is a story telling engine informing the world model and the humans need to generate power.

Dang.

As we're detached, let me say that ycombinator used to be a place that attracted the best of the best. One could come here and talk to people who knew their shit and had something to say.

What happened?

Normal physical processes are not deterministic. You don't need to speculate on a source of non-determinism, it's right there in the substrate. Penrose's entire argument is based on a fallacy (you need quantum effects for a system to be non-deterministic) and we've known this since the double-pendulum.

In which case go read fiction. There's plenty of it. Stop polluting the space with gibberish. A joke article with 50000 citations is no longer a joke.

What fiction? QNTM did a great job and it's all available for free. qntm.org

QuantumG··on The Shitty Technology Adoption Curve (2022)
If you're the kind of person who goes to the comments first, I'm here to tell you there's no need to read the article. Just say "bossware" to yourself 10 times.
QuantumG··on I should have loved biology (2020)
The second half of the article is certainly preferable to the whining at the beginning.

QuantumG··on Human hair transformed into renewable energy storage
If you take the red pill you come out of the pod bald, and then your hair starts growing. Up till now I just assumed the pod goop had growth suppression properties
QuantumG··on Human hair transformed into renewable energy storage
Oh, now The Matrix makes sense.
QuantumG··on OpenBSD is a cozy operating system
Do you think they understand the benefits? I think you'd have a lot better chance at enacting change than my emotional rambling has, and if not, lesson learned.
QuantumG··on OpenBSD is a cozy operating system
Which newer techniques?

Honest question.

Hey?
QuantumG··on Fixing all the bugs won't solve all the problems – Deming's path of frustration
I just like fixing bugs.

If you have someone in your team like that, give them latitude.

QuantumG··on Oh My Git: An open source game about learning Git
Great thing about software, you can turn features on and off.
QuantumG··on Oh My Git: An open source game about learning Git
If you're going to pitch something as a game, it needs voice. Integration is simple. What's the problem? Are git incantations too powerful to be spoken aloud?
QuantumG··on Oh My Git: An open source game about learning Git
It's an open source project slowly rotting.

Things that need doing:

1. Upgrade to Godot 4

2. Integrate VoiceCraft (nobody reads anymore)

3. Find ongoing support for a Maintainer

I wondered that too, it's Google so it's going to be Tensorflow or accessible through some workbook.. and I've lost interest.
QuantumG··on Why is software quality worse than a decado ago
I read this, came back and clicked on the wrong comment section. Funny thing, it wasn't much less entertaining.
