Pwntastic··on A woman on a mission to photograph every species of hummingbird
I have a feeder right outside my home office window, next to where my desk is. I see them all day and it makes me happy.

I actually put up one-way/reflective film on the window to block some harsh light that was being reflected straight into my face and it had the great side effect that the hummingbirds can't see me watching them. So now I can get right up to the window and watch them hang out.

Yes, the current executive culture of mass layoffs.

fyi you can directly view and download the saves and config files that get uploaded to the steam cloud. you could always download them as a backup before launching the game. it would not surprise me if there were oss tools to help manage that as well

this poster seems to just spam random stuff from mdn and his personal project over and over. you can see that he even added a spam comment to this post asking for stars on his github project.

edit: op deleted his beg comment after it was flagged dead

Pwntastic··on Debounce
what is so special about this that it is worth posting and garnering 100+ votes?

meta: it seems like this account just submits misc links to mdn?

Pwntastic··on Brave blocks Microsoft Recall by default
Having played Doom, Oblivion, Blue Prince, and Clair Obscur on linux, I can tell you that the tinker steps are unnecessary. I have literally just clicked play and didn't need to think about it. This didn't require a bunch of manual setup to get to that point either; I installed Endeavour and it installed the drivers I needed, then I installed Steam as normal and it was like nothing had changed from my Windows install.

People will post their tinker steps for everything. It's often just to disable the steam overlay, or inject their own overlay, or whatever they think gets them an extra 2 fps. It's linux and people love to configure it their way, but honestly steam/proton handles it automatically 99% of the time.

Pwntastic··on Speeding up my ZSH shell
I got tired of nvm being incredibly slow and recently switched to fnm, which has been much faster and has drop-in compatibility with the .nvmrc files that nvm used

seems like an app like BetterDisplay would be more suited to that
Pwntastic··on Howdy – Windows Hello style facial authentication for Linux
most of them only have touch sensors but the yubikey bio series devices have actual fingerprint readers, and as part of the device setup you register one or more fingerprints which are then stored on the device itself
Pwntastic··on Howdy – Windows Hello style facial authentication for Linux
It was relatively easy to setup a yubikey bio fingerprint device in arch with pam-u2f. I just kinda followed the wiki here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Universal_2nd_Factor

It wasn't strictly plug and play, but it only took like 20 minutes of fiddling.

Pwntastic··on Fun with Telnet (2024)
I just tried and it looks like it's still just in grayscale.

It does give a message stating as such:

Well, the IPv6 version is exactly the same as the IPv4 one.

Pwntastic··on Waymo rides cost more than Uber or Lyft and people are paying anyway
in my limited experience, you're not usually tipping a percent but a flat dollar amount of like $2-5 per ride, so $3 on an $8 ride basically removes the price difference between lyft/uber and waymo

Pwntastic··on Show HN: Floro – Visual Version Control
Why does the main product page attempt to connect to a localhost port? It looks like it's trying to hit a socket.io port, but that seems pretty unnecessary for a landing page?

Pwntastic··on The NSA Furby Documents
The FOIA documents are up on archive.org now: https://archive.org/details/nsa-furby-memo/

I'm amused at page 8 of the listserve doc, in which someone points out that the ongoing discussion may at some point be released to the public under FOIA and to consider how it might look after showing up on the front page of a news site
