PunchTornado··on Mistral Large 4
If you are a EU company worried about your data then mistral is your only option. Think about EU military companies. They can't use US and Chinese models.
PunchTornado··on 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine: Deisseroth, Hegemann, Nagel
how hard is it with AI to do an optogenesis surgery on some mice and do some experiments with neural networks? would the AI guide you step by step, tell you where to cut, what to put where? I have no medical background.
PunchTornado··on LeCun has "zero concerns" about AI wiping out humanity, recent "rogue" incidents
Doesn't everyone agree that recent rogue events are entirely the fault of management wanting to do some PR for their companies?

Is there anyone who genuinely believes that current models can't be contained if we want too?

What is LeCun saying here that is debatable?

PunchTornado··on Nissan's third generation e-POWER powertrain
I actually disagree. Why do you need a car for city trips? Most often you can take transport, a bike or walk. And in emergency situations take a taxi.

I have a car and use it only to go OUTSIDE the city, road trips and to the mountains / sea. That's why I think a hybrid is still the best option.

PunchTornado··on Why is the liver so weirdly regenerative?
This site was painful to read on mobile. Each time I switched to another app and then back it automatically scrolled to the top and I had to painfully rediscover where I left.
PunchTornado··on Socrates vs. the Written Word (2011)
Can't you argue that now, with llms, the written word speaks back?
PunchTornado··on Waymo pulls over, calls cops on juvenile riders who had 'ghost gun"
Interesting that it is ok in the US. I also work in weapon detection for driver safety systems. Obviously it is impossible for a human or a machine to detect intent with accuracy. A security guard can enter the car and then shoot the driver. You never know. That is why our systems always send alerts no matter the situation.
PunchTornado··on CUDA for AMD on Windows
But claude will not be able to debug the whole stack? I have no experience in the domain. But as an outsider, it seems to me, that if the rate of progress is maintained, i don't see why agents wouldn't be able to do it in a couple of years
PunchTornado··on Waymo pulls over, calls cops on juvenile riders who had 'ghost gun"
But regarding this specific case, where is the misdetection? Why would you enter a taxi with a ghost gun?
PunchTornado··on Europe's "Less" Is Doing More Than Anyone Gives It Credit For
Good point. One could counter with the fact that US transitioned to service based and software while EU kept the heavy industry (more) while doing the change
PunchTornado··on My last six months at Evernote
I remember i switched from evernote to obsidian in a few hours
PunchTornado··on Waymo pulls over, calls cops on juvenile riders who had 'ghost gun"
Do you know what a ghost gun is? Where is the misdetection?
PunchTornado··on Waymo pulls over, calls cops on juvenile riders who had 'ghost gun"
If i were a driver i would call the cops too. What do you mean? A ghost gun in a taxi is ok?
PunchTornado··on Waymo pulls over, calls cops on juvenile riders who had 'ghost gun"
A lot of taxis have models detecting weapons and aggressive behaviours. I work on some models like this. I think they are necessary. For driver's safety.
PunchTornado··on The Waymo effect: how AI is quietly making research less collaborative
Imagine writing an article in 5 days. Working hard. Posting it online and then everyone says it is ai and laughs and dismisses it because a tool says it is AI.
PunchTornado··on The Waymo effect: how AI is quietly making research less collaborative
Why trust pangram? What are their accuracy scores in the wild? Ai detection is notoriously difficult.
PunchTornado··on Norway Shrugged (2024)
loved it
PunchTornado··on The 92-Year-Old Mathematician and the Teenage Apprentice
Such a nice story to take us out of the news cycle of ai in math
PunchTornado··on Google DeepMind Releases AlphaGenome Atlas
You can do both. Release it, but ask for money.
PunchTornado··on AlphaGenome Atlas: a high-resolution map of human DNA
Hopefully. Tired, as a shareholder, to see the giveaways that deepmind is doing.
PunchTornado··on Muse Spark 1.3
What is astra?
PunchTornado··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
I open the link and I see Flash 3.8 high at 0.58 and Sol at 0.95. I don't understand why you say that "Sol 56 high ranks smack between Gemini 3.8 flash medium and high" but that is clearly wrong.
PunchTornado··on Norway Shrugged (2024)
What are the train references all over the text? is it because of the tax?
PunchTornado··on Gemini 3.7 Flash
did you try to ingest 1M documents per hour with any provider except GCP with Flash? None work at scale. Deepseek, Luna, Mistral all fail. 1 in 3 requests is a fail. I stopped trying.

The only thing that works at scale is gemini flash.

PunchTornado··on ChatGPT Desktop (Codex Desktop) for Linux
does the app eat more money that codex cli? I mean is there a difference in cost in asking via the app something vs the cli?
PunchTornado··on Qwen/Qwen3.8-2.4T-A95B
The card looks almost too good to be true
PunchTornado··on DeepMind's WeatherNext model achieves breakthrough forecasting cyclones
I guess so. Probably i was being greedy. But there is a feeling in investment community that google open sources too much
PunchTornado··on DeepMind's WeatherNext model achieves breakthrough forecasting cyclones
shareholders are pretty unhappy about demis. think about alphafold. huge investments from the company, tens of billions. at a critical time. and absolutely 0 revenue. it got demis a nobel though. as a shareholder you'd be unhappy too.
PunchTornado··on DeepMind's WeatherNext model achieves breakthrough forecasting cyclones
i feel you. as a google shareholder i am disappointed too.
PunchTornado··on DeepMind's WeatherNext model achieves breakthrough forecasting cyclones
which for google shareholders is pretty bad. we don't get anything from them releasing this.
