PhilipDaineko··on Everyone feared AI taking over; the real danger is AI serving just the few
I get your point.

But, as far as I understand, Sentient was state AI built for the state. LLMs were built from everyone's data, given to everyone, and now may be locked away for the few

PhilipDaineko··on Claude Fable 5
Because design patterns are only applicable at a scale. I noticed codex inventing factories, components, etc when the task was simply to draft HTML page. Instead, it build the entire layered architecture for imaginary future complexity - classical right-after-graduation student - it knows how to build the cool stuff, but does not know it is not applicable everywhere
PhilipDaineko··on Claude Fable 5
"5. DON'T FUCKING OVERENGINEER! WRITE THE SIMPLEST CODE THAT CAN POSSIBLY WORK! NO NESTED LAYERS OF ABSTRACTION! NO UNNECESSARY CLASSES OR METHODS! NO DESIGN PATTERNS UNLESS THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY! NO MAGIC! NO SHENANIGANS! JUST THE DAMN CODE THAT GETS THE JOB DONE IN THE MOST STRAIGHTFORWARD WAY POSSIBLE! THE FIRST PRIORITY IS TO WRITE CODE THAT IS EASY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND AND READ!!!"

this is the line I keep in Agents.md that helps me prevent Codex from playing smart

PhilipDaineko··on Three Inverse Laws of AI
Exactly. Furthermore, for this specific reason, AGI is not an objective term, but subjective: it is in my mind, I give you agency; only interacting with each other we invented a concept of agency
PhilipDaineko··on OneDrive just deleted all of my files
I use O&O ShutUp10++ to completely get rid of OneDrive and other annoying Microsoft tools from the recent version of Windows.
PhilipDaineko··on There is no A.I.
100% true. It is only ego that makes people think we are "unique" and different to AI. If one plugs current AI into a body with external stimuli such as wishing to mate, eat, etc, then the external observer will not be able to spot a difference.

Our minds are in fact same statistical models with a gradually declining ability to learn and driven by exogenous irrational goals to eat and mate.

PhilipDaineko··on Ask HN: Why did medium.com "fail"?
What's the point of setting up a blog on medium rather then setting up a WordPress website in minutes?

Or course in short term you win with Medium and similar platforms, but long term you lose, moreover bearing risks of platform-locking

PhilipDaineko··on Show HN: Automated insights from your Google Analytics
Great product, we have been using it for already a few month in our company. Lots of insights on the data. I would also love to see different time frames for the data comparison, i.e. compare week to week, or month to month, instead of having only day-to-day comparison.

Anyway, good luck!

PhilipDaineko··on Show HN: Superblocks – IDE for Internal Apps, APIs and Cron Jobs
The problem with all these no-code/low-code tools is that they are not Turing complete. Wherever you need to do something custom, you have to write code.

> Do any of you folks get paid good money to start projects?

I would argue with this thesis. There is a whole market of templates: themeforest, wrapbootstrap, template monster, creative-tim, flatlogic (my company) and others.

Templates are solely used to start the project, so I would say that the market is large

PhilipDaineko··on Show HN: Open startups with their revenue, metrics, and stories
As far as I understand creativetim.com uses gumroad for payment processing. Creative team has self-reported their revenue to about 1M per year. So kind of 20% from a single customer
PhilipDaineko··on Sing App Vue Dashboard – Open Source Admin Template with Stylish Design
OP is here.

We have been working on lots of Vue.js projects recently and decided to extract our knowledge into a starter kit to help other developers save their time developing Vue applications.

Let me know if you have any questions!

PhilipDaineko··on From selling admin templates on a marketplace to creating our own platform
Why do you think there is such a demand for them then?
PhilipDaineko··on From selling admin templates on a marketplace to creating our own platform
OP is here.

We have been selling admin dashboard templates for five years on Wrapbootstrap and now developed our own platform.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments!

PhilipDaineko··on Questions
> Why are there so many successful startups in Stockholm?

I believe a cause of this is that Sweden market is pretty small, so companies tend to initially go to a global market and solve global problems.

Compare Stockholm to Berlin, Paris or Moscow for example. Domestic markets in these countries are huge, so people have no reasons to go global - they have lots of local problems to solve.

PhilipDaineko··on Ask HN: “Who is hiring” from freelancer/agency side. Is there a demand?
Thanks for your answer mtmail, I did not notice these treads
PhilipDaineko··on Ask HN: “Who is hiring” from freelancer/agency side. Is there a demand?
My personal opinion is yes, there is. I would like to post expertise and case studies of my company and be contacted, instead of contact companies myself.
PhilipDaineko··on React Native Starter – Free Mobile Application Template Built with React Native
Hello Hacker News community!

OP is here.

My company have been working on lots of react native projects recently and we have extracted some sort of a starter project that helps us to bootstrap development of mobile applications. We decided to give back to the community and open sourced it.

I would appreciate your feedback and comments!

Thank you

PhilipDaineko··on Telegram plans multi-billion dollar ICO for chat cryptocurrency
This can be true, since KGB has a track record of creating underground organizations to be able to lead and control anti-soviet movements. For example, in 1921 they created "Monarchical Organization of Russia" to gather all anti-soviet agents around it and hence were able to control all European communist opposition at that time.

This is described in a book "KGB: The Inside Story of Its Foreign Operations from Lenin to Gorbachev" by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleg_Gordievsky, a former KGB officer.

PhilipDaineko··on Ask HN: What's the best place in Europe to live and work cheaply?
Hey, I am from Belarus.

True about taxes. There are almost no taxes (fixed 9%) for IT companies especially comparing to western countries. But, there are:

1. No shipment from amazon, ebay.

2. Startup culture is in really early stage. People talking about startups, but there are only few of them who have really achieved something

3. Most of European citizens need to have visa (not sure about price) to get there.

4. Coworking/hacker spaces are at the same stage as startup culture.

Hope these things will get sorted out in a few years :) However, if someone decides to go work from Minsk - send me note, I will show you around.

PhilipDaineko··on Wrapbootstrap holds my money and does not respond. Advice? Contacts? Please help
When did you start to contact him? How many days passed since then?

Yesterday I left a voice mail but no response yet. Gonna call once again in a few hours.

I don't think he ignores sellers from some countries, I think he ignores wrapbootstrap support at all :)

Anyway, I hope he will respond, having such support problems is not best thing for business.

PhilipDaineko··on Wrapbootstrap holds my money and does not respond. Advice? Contacts? Please help
Super thanks for your help. I should have come up to check whois myself.

I called this number and left a voice mail. Hope they will process it. Going to call againg in few hours. Maybe I'll manage to talk with someone

Thank you very much.

PhilipDaineko··on Ask HN: Themeforest let another author steal my design. Any advice?
Yep, I was thinking about it too. I probably lacked those little tweaks to get my item approved on themeforest. At least I see now what had to be done :)
PhilipDaineko··on Ask HN: Themeforest let another author steal my design. Any advice?
Right, the most common part is design. Don't you find them similar? That was the point

PhilipDaineko··on Ability to learn is affected by the timing of sleep
I recommend to read Brain Rules by John Medina. http://www.brainrules.net/.

He explains in really simple way how brain works and what is best for brain to keep evolving and getting smarter. One of the rules: Sleep well - think well
