PHPAdam··on It'll soon be illegal in Europe to differentiate insurance risk by gender...
Yer, Just a few: http://www.gocompare.com/insurance-companies/

Their may have the same under-writers who set the same rates for every broker. Its the brokers were the competition is.

Why "can't" they? .. Happy to be proven wrong: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2298570
PHPAdam··on It'll soon be illegal in Europe to differentiate insurance risk by gender...
Let me try and explain my maths, previously the fee where £100/£50 (M/F) income of £150. So they will have to increase F fee, so it will be (£100/£100) income of £200. Due to competition someone will then lower their fee to be (£75/£75) back again to £150 income.

So in the long run, my statement stands, it will cost me less.

PHPAdam··on It'll soon be illegal in Europe to differentiate insurance risk by gender...
In the long run, I will get cheaper insurance so wont argue too much about it.

Its not working for me Brian, which is a shame as I was going to draw some male genitalia.
PHPAdam··on Search Optimization and Its Dirty Little Secrets
This story should be more about Google's ranking code than a none story about JC Penny paying a SEO company, who did their job.

Matt_Cutts, people pay 3rd partys to "get me to the top for xx" when they deliver, you penalize then into oblivion?

PHPAdam··on Does my company have IP rights to the stuff I do in my spare time?
Interesting read, its doubtful they can.

If it ever came to a dispute, id follow the guidance of mark zuckerberg and fight it out for the rights to my work.

PHPAdam··on Hackers Penetrate Nasdaq Computers
That is just one motive, which id agree would be rare its more likely someone with access would play with the figures for financial gain.

"Investigators are considering a range of possible motives, including unlawful financial gain, theft of trade secrets and a" terrorist.

PHPAdam··on Sometimes it pays to pay your web designer
I guess, it was a reply to "but it would be quite illegal for them to start tearing the house down".

Designer seems to have recovered his goods domain/hosting and used it for what he wanted. To slag off the debtor.

PHPAdam··on Sometimes it pays to pay your web designer
No in the UK, if you do not pay a building contractor, court gives builder permission to "recover their goods" which is demolishing it.
PHPAdam··on Al Jazeera.net has been hacked
Al Jazeera was penetrated trough their advert system.

Replaced the advert with "Together to overthrow Egypt" in an attempt to discredit Al-Jazeera network coverage of current events in Egypt.

They say they were able to locate "the source". In the past weeks it has become a target with several attempts from Israel, Portugal and Morocco, without affecting the site.

PHPAdam··on Al Jazeera.net has been hacked
Google worked well for me, translation at bottom of article http://hosker.posterous.com/al-jazeera-hacked-together-to-ov...
PHPAdam··on Why Plenty Of Fish Stores Passwords in Plain Text
At least Half Encode password, as a reminder. 50% plain text, 50% hashed out. Or a temporary login token url.

Never send users plain text passwords in email.

PHPAdam··on Is this the end of regional intellectual property rights in Europe?
Football Industry just need to tighten their contracts to ensure that people stick to selling in their regions. The issue is that a Spanish company has sold a box to a British pub.

Instead of territorial argument with the other broadcaster, Sky decided to take legal action against the pub operator.
