There is no reason for walled garden. people can control the system themselves if setup.
There is nothing special about Ikea furniture. its generic slop made of compressed wood like the stuff you find in office furniture at your local bank.
Buisness dump invested money into expensive building. If no one rents then it stays vacant. Why vacant, isnt the landlord going to lose money? well yes but if he rents a lower amount then his valuation goes down and he is suddenly upside down on his loan. So he is compelled to not rent versus renting it.
Add to this governments make more tax yearly if its valued hire and now there is no incentive to fix this.
It would have been enough imo if the book just had a forward that noted some of it was conjecture based on whatever info they had. No one can truly know as I imagine there was either no documentation or it got destroyed in whatever allied bombing happened.
also blaming white people for shirking responsibility is a bit rich given that term encompasses a lot of nationalities including the British and Americans who fought against the Germans who were the ones doing the geocoding.
How many people had their parents work at a company for along time? that would be bad advice to give to a kid now a days.
If you like things the way they are and believe the new stuff is wrong well thats politics and you better be good at arguing your case. some cases the dinos actually win. i know young people are getting hip to right to repair which was a given back in the day when things were simpler so sometimes old ideas are refreshed. other times like (on prem) kinda died off and cloud is the way most people are going (i remember aruging with a freind in 2011 about using aws and he thought it was the dumbest thing but here were are with most stuff in the cloud now)
