> To the shock of RCA and other television proponents, the commission reassigned TV Channel 1 – 42 to 50 MHz - creating 40 exclusive channels for FM radio.
Intel can't compete in that market. The margins are too low: they're organized and staffed to a higher margin business. They're used to the high operating margins of x86. Now that their competition (mainly AMD) has become competent in the past ten years and x86 is decreasing in importance, they're losing their main competitive advantage.
There's also a lot of legitimate debate being censored/silenced in the UK. "Let's put an end to fake asylum." "Let's stop allowing chain migration." "Some of these people are never going to assimilate even after multiple generations, we should stop repeating the lie that they will." I don't think that's "hate speech," that's speech advocating immigration policy.
Most of the people claiming to want to end "hate speech" point to examples of the first case but most of the actual censorship is of the second case.
Even if it was a good idea, there's no way that it would past antitrust review in Europe and the USA.
Sure, the authorities can force all the people off their "campsites" and send all their belongings to the dump. But you've still obviously got the homeless person there, in a more vulnerable position than they were before.
On one had, that surprised me because it would be so easy to do, and it's tempting for anyone in a position of power to just grab the censorship stick if it suits them.
On the other hand, ideas aren't in themselves dangerous. It's execution that's dangerous! If you have a better idea of how to do a startup or startups in general, I don't think Y Combinator is opposed. By the way he writes about startups, I think pg's attitude is something like, "the pie is big enough for everyone, and if you have a way to grow the pie, go for it."
