It's not worth paying to be removed from people-finder sites, study says

When I've found myself on people-finder sites, very nearly all of the information they have about me is incorrect. So I prefer to leave it as is in the hopes that whatever data provider they're relying on will never correct their information.

If they're going to abuse me by buying and selling my personal information, I very much prefer for that information to be as error-ridden as possible.

I can't speak to anyone else's experience. But I've been signed up with Optery (YC W22) and have been pretty happy with them. They got me off all the "people search" sites that I was aware of. I am sure I can still be found in some fringe sites but I am still happy with the result from Optery.
