OriginalMrPink··on Ageusia – The Loss of Taste in the AI Internet
>> Taste is something harder: the ability to hold your own criteria steady while facing an infinite number of options.

Couldn’t agree more. Great write-up!

OriginalMrPink··on State of Web Dev AI 2025
Over 4k web developers participated in the survey. Tons of interesting insights regarding AI / IDE / model usage.
OriginalMrPink··on Show HN: An AI-first visual editor using GPT-4o's GPT-image-1 model
impressive...can't wait for OpenAI to make their image gen faster tough
OriginalMrPink··on Pixel 9a: The latest A-series phone with Google AI smarts at an unbeatable value
Apple feels stuck. Only incremental improvements, no real innovation, no risk... Also, some improvements turned out to be real bad.
OriginalMrPink··on Pixel 9a: The latest A-series phone with Google AI smarts at an unbeatable value
Really considering switching from iPhone this year. Been using iPhones since 3G.
OriginalMrPink··on Google to buy Wiz for $32B
Just curious, what problem do I need to have that they'll solve for me?
OriginalMrPink··on I Turned Off Apple Intelligence – Sad Update
Who wants fluent conversations with AI to get help for realtime translations or location based information (e.g. when traveling)? Who wants to delegate tasks to AI so it can help work with everyday productivity tools like calendar, emails, etc.

I understand that some of the stuff is not there yet. But dismissing an emerging technology as useless baby stuff? Reminds me of what people were saying of web, web 2.0, etc. My productivity has taken giant leaps since two years, probably because I'm willing to regularly invest some time into understanding & exploring which workflows can be optimised. It might actually not be trivial, and even some AI companies are not able to showcase their tech in realistic problem solving scenarios. But it's there.

Apple is just really really bad at this atm. Their leadership has transformed the company into a mindset of mirco-optimisations, no more taking risks etc.

OriginalMrPink··on Ask HN: Cursor vs. Windsurf?
It was Cursor six months ago, VC with Copilot three months ago, and currently it's Windsurf / Cursor. Copilot is lagging with features, it used to be Chat & Compose, now it's Agents and MCP stuff that's missing. But once it's in there, it just seems more robust and better integrated with everything imo.
OriginalMrPink··on 1/4 of startups in YC current cohort have almost entirely AI-generated codebases
It actually is. The trick is to be in charge of architecture and scope. But this is not a 100% AI build like stated in the article.
OriginalMrPink··on Apple M3 Ultra
That's today. What about tomorrow?
OriginalMrPink··on 1/4 of startups in YC current cohort have almost entirely AI-generated codebases
It would have been great if they had disclosed which products. I've been building tons of projects with AI lately, and while this is a massive productivity boost, the code itself doesn't scale. The acceleration when you start with zero is massive, but with a growing code base, AI hits a wall at some point. You better understand what you've built going from there.
OriginalMrPink··on Some British firms 'stuck in neutral' over AI, says Microsoft UK boss
Truth to be told, it often seems that even companies that have an AI roadmap don't know what they're doing...
OriginalMrPink··on The Demoralization is just Beginning
Yes, please. But you know, these days, everyone is doing their own research, and think they nailed it. But it's often sloppy research, unfunded arguments, etc.

Just looking at the map in this article, and whatever source this comes from (some people don't seem to bother sharing sources) - it seems not accurate. (e.g. why is Greenland a different color than Denmark...)

OriginalMrPink··on Ask HN: How to do LLM optimization like SEO?
I was wondering the same thing on an API level. How to build / write and document an API so that it can be easily digested and applied by LLMs.
OriginalMrPink··on Open source AI is the path forward
Open Source AI is the path forward, but I have hard time believing that Meta should be affiliated with it.
OriginalMrPink··on We raised a bunch of money
"Why We Raised A Bunch Of Money" doesn't answer any of the questions above. I've seen private equity rounds disguised as traditional founding rounds, which is neither very transparent, nor very honest. Raising 70M just shortly after a 25M round makes me feel like there was more at play then just 'raising' money tbh. But I might be totally off here - but therefore disclosing a bit more than you currently do might be really helpful.
OriginalMrPink··on We raised a bunch of money
Really? What are you going to tell them after they signed? "You bought it, suckers!"

You might have found your audience. But for me the tonality of the post felt way off.

OriginalMrPink··on We raised a bunch of money
I'm not doubting this at all. But let me be more specific what I don't like about their communication.

"$70MM led by EQT Ventures." That's awesome, but what are you giving away for this? Are founders selling their shares? Where is the beef? $70M can be everything and nothing at the same time.

"There are customers who are comfortable engaging with tiny Fly.io, and others who are comfortable engaging with the Fly.io that raised an additional $70M led by EQT ventures." I'm pretty sure that your enterprise customers are already wowed by a 25M infusion by AtoZ. So again, where is the beef, especially after stating: "Why do startups write announcements like these? We went back and forth on it. There are lots of reasons, most of them dumb."

I can keep going with more examples. But the headlines says it all. The 70M clickbait 'we raised a bunch of money" - wow, so chill, bruv.

OriginalMrPink··on We raised a bunch of money
The headline and even the article reads like a big nothing burger.
OriginalMrPink··on Show HN: A Video Editor SDK for Web Based on WASM and WebCodecs
looks like you could do this via API. Not sure though, it's not in the UI and according to the company it's on the roadmap.
