OrgNet··on Intel slashes prices in face of AMD competition
very few really need more then 1 core...
OrgNet··on If You Want to Go Broke, Listen to a Billionaire
HNers are so anal, don't you see the correlation with OP's title?
OrgNet··on If You Want to Go Broke, Listen to a Billionaire
If you want to be rich, act like a billionaire (actions speak louder then words).
OrgNet··on Amazon and Apple are building rival networks that know where everything is
why unfortunately?
OrgNet··on Amazon and Apple are building rival networks that know where everything is
> I don't think it's fair to apply terms humans use to corporations.

... but corporations are people, according to the law.

(ie: you can't say someone said something just because someone else said it.)

OrgNet··on Remote Code Execution in Firefox beyond Memory Corruptions
I wish more websites would include a publishing date right at the top (like some newspapers). I think that they don't care if the information is outdated as long as it brings in visitors. Too many websites do this.
OrgNet··on Drone pilots could be experiencing 'sniper's syndrome'
those mini drones are pretty cool too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HipTO_7mUOw
OrgNet··on Learn Just a Little Awk (2010)
it's kind of rude, it's a bit like Google showing large snippets in the web search results so that users never have to leave google.com
OrgNet··on 500MP camera that can identify every face in a crowd of tens of thousands
other things will probably limit visibility, like earth curvature, buildings, etc... probably better to have multiple of those arrays? I would be really curious to get details on the lens setups for this array though.
OrgNet··on Facebook, WhatsApp Will Have to Share Messages With U.K.?
One example is that voice calls only ring on one side, sometimes (on the calling side).

Another is that when some rooms get updated, you can get unread notices from the old room and your client keeps telling you that you have new messages even if you don't.

Another thing that I think should be considered a bug, is that when you enable encryption in a room and you have multiple devices on the same account, you have to approve all your devices separately so that they will be able to decrypt the messages...

There are more bugs related to how the encryption process works and I stopped using encryption because of it (some might have been fixed by now...)

OrgNet··on Facebook, WhatsApp Will Have to Share Messages With U.K.?
> [...] has to at least have the physical device on hand.

not really since most of them are connected 24/7

OrgNet··on Google to stop showing news snippets for French users
I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner and all over the world.
OrgNet··on Facebook, WhatsApp Will Have to Share Messages With U.K.?
matrix seems pretty good, but it is still young and buggy (at least with the the client that I use, riot.im)
OrgNet··on Plane Tests Must Use Average Pilots, NTSB Says After 737 Max Crashes
> Avionics is miles ahead of everyday commercial stuff like your desktop computer in reliability and correctness.

What OS that they use that is so much better?

OrgNet··on Plane Tests Must Use Average Pilots, NTSB Says After 737 Max Crashes
well, at least they could try. but yeah I know that most software sucks and can't be predicted 100%
OrgNet··on Plane Tests Must Use Average Pilots, NTSB Says After 737 Max Crashes
NTSB apparently need better employees for making such a recommendation... (ie: it is not ok for 1/2 of the pilots to not be 100% in control of their plane)
OrgNet··on Echo Frames – Eyeglasses with Alexa
> edit: Don't mean to imply an Apple is impossible to hack or exploit. Just that they take a more active stance and have the history to back it up.

the NSA don't need to hack them... they can just ask (they did).

what we need is true e2e encryption ...

OrgNet··on Rocket Mail
prove it and send me a quick one: i12im8+msyvo9klxnkc@sharklasers.com
OrgNet··on Rocket Mail
I remember mine, but Yahoo deleted my account after a short period of inactivity... I wonder if anybody still have theirs. That is one reason why I never had a Yahoo email address.
OrgNet··on Amazon Sidewalk is a new long-range wireless network
open-lora would be nice
OrgNet··on Echo Frames – Eyeglasses with Alexa
Apple keeps recordings for 2 years, how long does Amazon keep theirs?
OrgNet··on If You Run a Small Business, Park in the Back of the Parking Lot
welcome to common sense....
OrgNet··on Some tea bags may shed billions of microplastics per cup
just like titles that end in question marks... usually always bullshit
OrgNet··on WARP is here
use wireguard instead if you want to be safer... not exciting at all unless you are invested in cloudflare
OrgNet··on WARP is here
is that a VPN? why did it take so long to implement as they stated multiple times?

I try to avoid Cloudflare if I have an option because they are getting too big.

OrgNet··on WARP is here
Very good point... Cloudflare is probably considered a third party according to the law... so no warrant is needed to get all of your data that is 6 months or older... a bit like your email hosted in the cloud: https://newspunch.com/government-can-read-any-email-over-six...

The law is wrong in this case, of course.

OrgNet··on The Most Misused SSN of All Time
I used to give my old phone number to companies I don't care about... but that number finally got reassigned to a someone else (a company)... I wonder how many calls they got.
OrgNet··on The one who kept VLC free
I used to get the K-Lite Codec Pack Mega and any video would play in any player ... haven't used it in many many years though, not sure if it is loaded with spyware nowadays. But yeah VLC is still great.
OrgNet··on Bike crash left Spokane man unconscious, so his Apple Watch called 911
It probably also gives you ample time to cancel the call.
OrgNet··on Bike crash left Spokane man unconscious, so his Apple Watch called 911
couldn't any phone do this? they have so many sensors
