1. Understanding user requirements/pain points is very important and many get it wrong.
2. Doing the architecture of the system within the org env/cloud/infra is often wrong by LLMs (for now).
3. Debugging when things go wrong. What to log, how to log it, and how to ensure not logging much or logging sensitive data.
4. Guide junior engineers, so they are not just accepting what LLMs are spiting.
What does advertise mean? If it’s on company’s ATS page then it is advertised.
If it means not on job boards, this is another false claim as many job boards do scraping to cover more jobs and get organic traffic.
They also support fallback by default so you don’t have to write wrappers and logic to choose models, it just works with their SDk using config.
I feel Anthropic is destroying itself with all these restriction. They got away because their models were the best for coding, but that is not an advantage anymore as OpenAI and other open source are already better.
I’m not talking about nice looking websites or forms, I mean something closer to a saas with user accounts and payments.
“If it works, don’t fix it” until it doesn’t and we shall see a new wave of software hiring in a year or two.
Every enterprise is talking about AI Transformation, and that great with the right expectations. But those who think AI will just make platforms quick with less people and least experienced engineers, will have to prepare for the deinshitification transformation in a year or two.
Restaurants in London started charging when there is no show for reservations.
What you describe is an execution failure not AI, these are basic NLP systems that could be easily configured with some dataset to make them better, but i will make a wild guess that the bank has incompetent manager who was pushing for some numbers to put in a slide to say “I” did this.
Wasn't a dating app exposed this year with same negligence or firebase security?
Working on your own project doesn’t seem tiring or as exhausting as a job, because it has the sense of achievement, you work, learn, make something that you believe is making a change. On the other side, you see how pointless the work is when it’s just contributing to a number in a slide for a manager that has no idea what they are doing.
The solution is not technical though, it’s human, and that is more challenging to fix.
And for that, I agree with you, it’s self-selected to take the suffering jounrey
If it helps, the main reason I love cmux is how can I manage my projects into folders, I have fast access to all the projects which made my life a lot easier working in the terminal. I can also have coding, test, monitoring spilt in one tab per project.
> “I just have not heard a single person outside of the tech community talk about an agent that they use,”
Do non techies use programming languages or frameworks? do they design systems for their own use? They just use it without knowing. This is similar to "No one out of the automobile design industry talk about engine design"
And what about using the word "Normal" to describe non techies? so technical people are "not normal".
I’ve been reading this sentiment on HN since GPT4o, yet models got better and better
How this made it to HN front page?
