OrangeRange··on Dutch governments builds alternative for Microsoft based on NixOS
Bad take, what actually happened was the realization that games wouldn't be released on Linux unless there were enough users there to warant it. Just as with ARM Windows not getting a single usable software when first released. What happened was Wine/Proton and FEX, with a lot of monetary input from Valve.

By allowing a lot of people who are willing to take a performance-hit to transition to Linux, they sow the grass-roots necessary for the game studios to release native games on Linux.

Everyone in the linux world insists on fragmentation, though? It's a part of what makes it great and a mess at the same time.

And what of it? Every time a for profit company uses open source they'll either create a closed fork, and if they can't they'll create closed source modules for it.

I'm not saying it's bad to wish for companies to support FOSS, I'm just saying it's an unrealistic expectation to have.

OrangeRange··on The Power of Prolog
When working in Java a couple of years ago I once ran into a random Prolog error. Turns out that the XML parser used by a large subset of the Java world is written in Prolog

(Hint: the error came from an Apache lib, just like in this link: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/3030903/content-is-not-a...)
