NolF··on The nightmarish SOPA hearings
Didn't Iceland recently pass some exceptionally strong media protection and free speech legislation? I believe Wikileaks helped substantially in the development of the law
NolF··on Google confirms Nexus S will get Ice Cream Sandwich (Gingerbread devices too)
The Galaxy phones are some of the most resilient and fool proof devices for flashing.
NolF··on Prohibition: The History of A Calamity
They only have a business because it's illegal in the USA, they kill each other for a share of that rich pie
NolF··on Dead Sea Scrolls Now Available Online
It's how copyright works unfortunately :( The creator of the content/picture own that picture unless they state it otherwise. Considering the nature of the document, it should be considered of public domain due to the broad public interest the document has.
NolF··on Google Flight Search
And make my and million's of other live's much better. It takes a mammoth to disrupt such a consolidated (and crappy) industry.
NolF··on Google Flight Search
If the results Google gave me were not relevant to what I needed (and that includes linking to third parties over their own excellent properties) then I would use bing, or find something else which accommodates to my needs better. However, this is currently not the case. I can quickly search the local weather without going to any random site, do quick maths or conversions without effort, search journals and books without second thought etc...
NolF··on Delivering fast boot times in Windows 8
typing msconfig in the search box and goign to the startup tab will allow you to disable most programs that automatically startup at boot. Just leave essentials such as software for laptop mouse or sound, and you should be gold. Soluto is also a pretty good program to help you with the process, but you don't really need that one.
NolF··on EU votes to extend music copyright to 70 years
What you describe is largely a Red and Blue ocean issue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Ocean_Strategy
NolF··on The Amazon Kindle Cloud Reader is live
I've had quite the same experience. Downloaded some books, started reading it, and after enjoying the book so much, the little formatting errors were too much and decided to buy the book.
NolF··on To defend Android, Google must attack software patents
The Apple consortium with Microsoft, RIM et al. can afford to go much higher up (have up to $100billion combined in cash. Intel+Google do have large deep pockets but how far could they take the cost up? Also wouldn't making it more expensive provided an added incentive to litigate or impose a licencing scheme to pay for the costs

At the end of the day, Google has to start to have a far more proactive approach protecting Android and Android related cases that essentially are forcing manufacturers to pay up for licences essentially for patent protection via Microsoft :/

NolF··on Antitrust officials probing sale of patents to Google’s rivals
It's free and open source, anyone can take the source code, modify it and sell it under their own name. In fact I've read that Baidu was doing exactly that. Some manufacturers have also changed the default search engine in Android to Bing.
NolF··on What Google+ needs to do to be awesome
Don't forget that a lot of the appeal of the FB's events feature is seeing who else is invited, who else is attending, the whole description and possible discussion that can also occur. Sometimes details need to be organised, comments made etc... I think it would also be cool and useful when uploading pictures to be able to tag an event so there is an album which people invited to the event can see and comment.
NolF··on Gmail: Trap my contacts now (warning when exporting contacts to Facebook)
Facebook already offers your contact information to Microsoft and Yahoo. However, I think friends who have emails set as "only me" or equivalent do not export. I tried the feature today and 10% of my contacts did not export to yahoo :/
NolF··on Gmail: Trap my contacts now (warning when exporting contacts to Facebook)
There already is an option not to show your email to friends. Just set the email field to 'Only Me'.
