Nimitz14··on Anthropic's ‘watermark’ text adulteration in Claude is a perversion of writing
You have some fundamental misunderstandings on how LLMs work.
Nimitz14··on Anthropic's ‘watermark’ text adulteration in Claude is a perversion of writing
You’re not getting it. The probabilities do not change at all. The only change is given some probabilities there is a deterministic method for determining which symbol was sampled from that distribution. The distribution or sampling process itself is not modified.
Nimitz14··on Changes at Google DeepMind: Demis Hassabis from CEO to Chair, Jeff Dean departs
Uh isn’t google known to have the best tooling in the world
Nimitz14··on Claude Code uses Bun written in Rust now
Ai slop
Nimitz14··on HackerRank open sourced its ATS. My resume scored 90/100. Oh wait 74. No – 88
He said it nudges it to be more deterministic. Your comment is not correct.
Nimitz14··on Corporate America Is Starting to Ration AI as Cost Skyrockets
This is mostly slop. But you may be directionally correct
Nimitz14··on Interaction Models
Really really cool. If they can serve this efficiently it would disrupt a lot of things.
Nimitz14··on Microsoft and OpenAI end their exclusive and revenue-sharing deal
I think your own math leads to the conclusion the public apis are not serving models of that size. They couldn’t afford to
Nimitz14··on Cohere Transcribe: Speech Recognition
3/4 are actually negative value for most customers
Nimitz14··on Innocent woman jailed after being misidentified using AI facial recognition
Your answer presumes we cannot hold people accountable. I think that is incorrect.
Nimitz14··on Voxtral Transcribe 2
Most of these errors will not be meaningful. Real speech is full of ambiguities. 3% is low
Nimitz14··on My stages of learning to be a socially normal person
I think you're bang on the money fwiw. But also worth mentioning that it's OK to ask rather than trying to predict and feeling that having to ask means failure
Nimitz14··on Britain's railway privatization was an abject failure
This is clearly a partisan website (see its name). Read with a large grain of salt.
Nimitz14··on Yann LeCun to depart Meta and launch AI startup focused on 'world models'
Yann was in charge of FAIR which has nothing to do with llama4 or the product focussed AI orgs. In general your comment is filled with misrepresentations. Sad.
Nimitz14··on Is Sora the beginning of the end for OpenAI?
Sora is about data gathering. This take is too simplistic.
Nimitz14··on Video game union workers rally against $55B private acquisition of EA
There's still too much fat, or rather people who just add net negative value. My org would benefit from firing easily 50%.
Nimitz14··on Open models by OpenAI
I'm surprised at the model dim being 2.8k with an output size of 200k. My gut feeling had told me you don't want too large of a gap between the two, seems I was wrong.
Nimitz14··on Open models by OpenAI
This is normal. Rope was introduced after bert/gpt2
Nimitz14··on The anti-abundance critique on housing is wrong
What is it like living a life completely ignorant of reality?

If you'd like to learn, feel free to ask chatgpt on the leftish pushback against abundance. Or historical examples of leftists blocking housing projects. Or environmentalists prioritizing niche interests over those of the general community. There are many, many examples.

Nimitz14··on How Anthropic teams use Claude Code
We're all gonna be PMs.
Nimitz14··on The Big Oops: Anatomy of a Thirty-Five-Year Mistake [video]
Think the microsoft terminal saga shows a pretty clear track record.
Nimitz14··on Observations from people watching
This is very good. I've also noticed I do the polite engagement sometimes and how its roboticsness is obvious to any person with not low EQ. Some people seem to just be naturally happy in almost any settings and its a very valuable trait imo.
Nimitz14··on Evidence of controversial Planet 9 uncovered in sky surveys taken 23 years apart
[flagged]
Nimitz14··on Tell HN: Warning Google trains on your data when using aistudio.google.com
So this is not the case for https://gemini.google.com ?
Nimitz14··on Why I don't discuss politics with friends
If your friends are the sort that stick to tribes instead of thinking independently get smarter friends.
Nimitz14··on Google to buy Wiz for $32B
Not the same thing at all. Corporations care about their data a lot and would cancel deals over this. Noone cares if some authors get upset, they have no leverage. Disappointing how people will make confident statements while being so clearly clueless.
Nimitz14··on Ask HN: Any insider takes on Yann LeCun's push against current architectures?
Any continual learning papers you're a fan of?
Nimitz14··on The Demoralization is just Beginning
If you had spent the time writing this and other comments googling/chatgpting you could have learned why returning to the gold standard is a joke.
Nimitz14··on Inheriting is becoming nearly as important as working
You're looking at the start and the end of the plots and totally ignoring what happens in between. If Austin had followed the linear trendline from Q4 2019 to Q2 2022 (increase of 22.7/Q) then it would have been at 800 in Q4 2024.

800/346=2.3

2.3 >> 1.47

That's not a wobble in the plot.

Nimitz14··on Inheriting is becoming nearly as important as working
NYC keeps going up while Austin has clearly reversed the upward trend. It seems you may have not looked at the graphs you linked.
