There was just more news about it than with other companies ( I think they let go about 2 k. People a year ago).
( Not saying it's good, just a little perception balance)
See them shifting now.
Things are moving quick.
In the 39 years I live here, the only power loss was due to lightning or planned power cuts because of work in the building where I live in the last 9 years ( rare - twice).
There is however incentive for our high chemistry industry to cut the power and they get re-imbursed. This is when we have too much electricity production ( solar power) vs. consumption. Otherwise the providers have to pay "fines" to lose the overproduction of electricity to neigboring countries ( who probably all have overproduction of electricity).
Basically he's describing an LLM assistant setup that does coding on a vps or Mac mini ( some contradiction with Openrouter though) where you can communicate with the assistant through telegram

2 different rules it seems.
I think Trump definitely pushes allies away much faster than ever anticipated, that's probably the only achievement from the current administration.
The alliance still stands, but it's hard to trust the US when the current president is constantly praising violent dictators and doesn't seem to grasp the concept of laws/rules + tries to blame everyone else + threatens to invade EU countries + the requirement to bribe him with funds/crypto to have "alliance".
You can know a guy by the friends he keeps :)
Fyi. I used to always use US tech, the last year I've done my best to adhere to the "European Souvereign Cloud". My current stack on US providers is down from 300 € / month to 35€ / m. And many are following suite ( it's slowly becoming a requirement for tenders for the governement + cities)
Ps. For the last week I diverged to Luna too, still need to check 3.8 flash.
But 3.6 flash was my go-to model 3 weeks ago and before it was deepseek flash/pro for a while.
None of the claude models seemed cost effective though.
I had all of those projects already in my favorites except Headlong. Arround 4k+ stars.
And probably WIKI ingested 300 of them for recipes and best practices.
Haven't used the WIKI yet though...
Cloudflare build from the bottom up. First the SDN ( Software Defined Network), then the products on top. The first one was logical: CDN + DDOS.
All the rest continued to build on top of the SDN - Workers, D1, ... But once they have the full stack ( which happened arround D1), it was time to let others build on top of Cloudflare.
That's the current stage ( Cloud 2.0), that was always the goal. It's even in their ticker ( NET ).
In practise, AI could be a godsend. A total new foundation for software where the Cloudflare stack is a perfect product fit( disposable compute, where others will protect their compute with long running compute contracts). I can't blame them to try to seize the opportunity.
Tbh. I feels like the author hasn't actually adjusted to how Cloudflare is building it's cloud ( eg. how powerfull Durable Objects is).
PS. A big outage is a long time ago... ( we use them, I remember the issues those days and the post mortem, a lot became more stable as far as I noticed).
Check out Nebius
Their first products were production grade examples of the SDN that required a lot of bandwidth (DDOS/CDN).
The cloud is a logical continuation.
Their business was always the "internet", see their ticker => NET.
Dev free is part of the marketing cost and would stay under the current leadership.
Tried with 2 harnesses and it seems bad + slow
