A previous company I worked on had some sort of Serverless cargo-cult that forced us to use Dynamo as general purpose NoSQL DB, instead of something more sensible like Aurora or hell, even MongoDB in a EC2 instance.
When I went to europe I was surprised by European houses being heated like ovens during winter, with temperatures beyond 20c in some cases. Being from Southern South America (with my native city having a climate roughly similar to that of Ireland) I was used to houses being "fairly cold" during winter, with interior temperatures of 5~10c, we just fight the cold by wearing more clothes and going to bed early!
Why do they make keyboards that can type hate crime? Why do they make cameras that can shoot child porn? This is possibly the worst question I've seen in this site.
I really don't see the issue with dual booting. I work and do most of my personal stuff in Linux, but when I want to play videogames I just reboot my machine and open Windows. It's less effort even than going to my living room and booting my PS4.
Nice website but the problem is that it shows the fonts at 18px size when most people use their editors at 11 or 10px sizes. Many fonts look radically different at such small sizes.
Sadly it sufferes from "squished" ISO syndrome like so many keyboards and laptops nowadays. I had to spend a buttload of money in a P1 in order to get a Thinkpad without a squished ISO layour keyboard.
The other day I went to the office to pick up something and I was finally able to experience the nice banked turn in my commute at full speed. 160kmh with tires at the limit of grip, when most of the days I can barely get 60kmh there. What a pleasure.
I might be some kind of extreme introvert, because I don't miss people in my office at all. In fact it feels like a relief, for professional reasons I've had to be more outgoing that I'd like to and that feels extremely tiring after a while.
16 to 18 years in most countries. Prediction and correlation of cause and effect, spartial awaraness and other cognitive functions take a while to train.
They are better than most laptops in the market for sure, but still a far-cry from what they used to be. But at the same time, Thinkpads were in the verge of dissapearance back in the 20 days, they HAD to do something to appeal more to mass consummers.
Personally I'd hold up until the .1 release for servers, they iron out number of bugs that could impact stability. 20.04, despite being an LTS release, is quite "bleeding edge".
I went to the grocery store yesterday and couldn't start my car! turns out I left my phone charger in the 12v socket and after 5 weeks without driving it drained my battery.
Being a long-time Android user (not a fan, though) This is the first iPhone I'd actually buy. I'm tired of huge phones with no bezels, they're not usable. They are a pain in the ass, they are a literally a pain in your hand to use. I halso ahte the notch with passsion.
Connectivity like that is common outside the Apple world. See Lenovo Thinkpads, HP Elitebooks, most gaming laptops. It's the fashion statement computers like Macbooks that have remoted ports for no good reason.
