>doesn’t seem to be replicating documents all too well based on the many other testimonies in these comments
Ironic, that you are agreeing with a post saying they put in little effort for the implementation when you have put in absolutely no effort in saying that it doesn't produce pixel-faithful documents, such as producing a single concrete example.
I agree. To each their own, but the UI updating automatically doesn't really add much value to me. I would prefer that the view I am seeing is a snapshot in time of what the ground truth server was, not some mixed state that forces me to consider the possibility that seeing my request go through on the screen doesn't actually mean it went through and has been sent to the server.
>will categorically reject AI-made metal on principle.
I think this is a huge part of the reason people sometimes find AI criticism so dismissible; there is always some factor other than the actual product it seems that AI-made assets are judged on. With Suno, the biggest ones I've seen are 1) hating AI-created music by virtue of it being AI-created, and 2) the hate is from people who attempt to generate income from their music production, and Suno made music cuts into that pie.
Yeah, I honestly feel like some sources should be banned if they regularly editorialize titles like this. FT wants to sell subs by any means necessary, even if it means creating some clearly misleading titles to do so. By amplifying their reach and allowing posts like that only further incentivizes them to continue to do it.
No, but in a peace time, it's a lot easier to convince someone not to use nukes than in a war when the party who has nukes has its back against the wall.
A lot of people are face blind (including me), and it's extremely embarrassing, especially when I'm supposed to remember a person's name. Wouldn't wear survialiance tech to try to fix it though.
I think that has to do more with the thinking "train of thought" that some models show as what the model is processing before making the response. There shouldn't be a distillation risk with actually asking the model to explain why it made a decision and getting the response.
Yeah, I feel as though people have seen the error of creating a free internet and are trying as much as possible to reverse it. It's kind of like how Photoshop (and most software companies honestly) have seen how selling a license in perpetuity does not work and opt for the rent-seeking monthly subscription route.
In the intentionally dropped section, it lists shed as "Not particularly useful on Windows." Does anyone know why? Is thre already a shred-like command in Windows?
Great visual, but one thing I've noticed is that LLMs have taken most of the "magic" out of creating these sorts of visualizations. Usually, it required a large amount of dedication to the subject matter, teaching techniques, and graphic design. Now, anyone with a passing knowledge can make them. Not saying that's a negative by any means, but that large dedication usually meant that you could trust the author's work and that it wouldn't have any hallucinations. Now, I find myself reading these more on the defense that it could be wrong about something, and I can't even trust them at all if I don't know anything about the subject already.
I know it is irrational vibes, but how the whole Department of Defense situation was handled will always make me partial to Anthropic. Unless there so huge shift, of course.
Of course, and it is expected that large pull requests/RFCs are iterated on. I will not believe Bun seriously asked for a pull request to be merged with absolutely no expectation of back and forth discussion. But this isn’t what happened. The whole reason everyone thought it was rejected by Zig because Bun used LLM to generate it was because they responded in a way that someone would if they didn’t want a certain pull request accepted under any circumstances. Which is my point; it I just insane that their largest project submitted a pull request, and they just rejected it with prejudice, gave some statement saying the real and potentially fixable reasons why, then turn around and say we don’t want your help, we are doing this in house.
Not really, if it doesn’t work then it will hurt their flagship desktop app’s stability, which would negatively affect their placing in an already cutthroat AI arms. Claude Code is the few business asset that Claude has the least moat compared to other providers( even open source). They can’t afford to be sloppy and use a buggy JS engine.
But this goes to my second point; it seems like Zig wasn’t open to any compromise about the solution that Bun submitted and one they built in house. Is it the Zig culture to reject a pull request like that wholesale? It’s really odd for them to have such a flippant attitude and not to even try offer ways that they could use the pull request or things that they need to tweak to make it more inline with what they want. Companies want to use languages that have a understanding committee, and are willing to work together to create solutions, not just say “No, this isn’t what we want, and we are building a similar system anyway so don’t even bother to try again”. It just looks unprofessional.
> bun seems to be committed to slop rust already. so, with their ethic, maybe we should just disassociate them from zig and let them go realize their slop dreams?
Closing your eyes and pretending a problem does not exist is the a good solution. The fact of the matter is one of the biggest projects that used Zig thought that the devX was so bad that they opted to rewrite their entire 1M LOC project into a different language. This is a nightmare scenario for most companies, and will motivate similar sized companies/project to pick another language that will not require this than to risk using Zig. Also, Zig’s flippant attitude about Bun’s request (among other viewpoints) only further adds to why bigger projects would want to stay away from Zig.
I could be completely wrong about this, but I think a lot of women causal clothing specifically recommend dry cleaning, compared to men (unless you are in a field that wear suits everyday).
Yeah, I hope this is just a demo that he is showing. You usually are fine if you have a reverseDNS domain name that you don't advertise + CF, but he is now going to get spammed by genuine human traffic.
I don’t know, one could say that “being informed” is itself an inherently biased argument. What is being informed? Is it that they agree with you (or whatever controlled opposition to your point in your mind)?
Yea, and I will take it a step further; it is really easy to start to worry about the “worth of a human life” when it’s yours. When we are in the position to not care about the worth of a human for our gain(such as children working to make iPhones for us to use cheaper) we call it economics.
I think he means that you can’t watch regular videos on YouTube unless you use a IP that is easily traceable to a subscriber or a YouTube account that requires everything short of a DNA sample to be valid.
Yeah, this is similar to what I hear about Tesla's everywhere. While some members of the company leadership can be polarizing, the product itself seems very solid. Have been saving up for my first "good" car since starting my end-career job, really want to get a Tesla, but wish there was a hybrid option due to charger anxiety. Otherwise, would get one already.
