NerDProgrammer··on Ask HN: Is the world a positive sum game for the earth, not just humans?
I still don't understand that why is the system not zero sum. The system has a way of replenishing itself. But if we consume (or harm nature) at a rate higher than it can replenish, then it'll not be able to sustain.

Why do you say that the system is more complicated that zero sum ? Is it because of the infiniteness of sunlight ? Or is it because of the scale at which humans effect nature, or the sheer vastness of nature. Is this from the system perspective, or a human perspective ?

Could you please elaborate on that thought. Because I haven't understood this idea entirely i think. It has always been, maybe because of chemistry, or because of equations, or because of the idea of equivalent exchange, that if it is a finite resource, then the allocation between to independent parties is zero sum. Unless they collaborate together, in which case, it's still zero sum, but rather of a dynamic nature where the possession of the finite resource sways between the two parties over time and no one is in actual abundance of the resource.

I will really appreciate if you could provide more insight on your understanding.

I believe that earth has finite resources.

Yeah, as a programmer TW makes much more sense to me as I am not locked in by what I get, I can add additional functionality as and when I require.

There's also some things about notion that are starting to bother me, like the startup times of the application are insane, even if i want to just save a quick link, I cannot add tags to it. The out of customisability and freedom are great and definately appreciate what they have done to make it so much simpler to use for just about anyone, but sometimes the lock in just annoys a bit too.

Thank you so much for the Krytal theme!!!

Definately like zim, it's amazing and I can use it with vim also. Only con that stopped me for using it is that it doesn't have cross platform support, as I would also like to keep my wiki accessible on my android device. Thank you so much for the suggestion ! :)

Thank you very much for suggestion but as much as I respect emacs and have always seen org-mode as something really really amazing out of the box, I still haven't decided to switch or start using emacs yet. There's a plugin in vim which replicates similar functionality but it still is not as good as emacs. I don't mean to say anyone editor is better, but for practical reasons I am not trying org-mode now.

I really appericiate your suggestions and will keep it in mind when I might give emacs a shot.

Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software by Charles Pretzold

Reading the book is the most beautiful and simple way that a person can really understand what a computer and come to the realization that it is not black magic.
