I'm a designer turned developer. One day I'll link to one of my sites, but for now I enjoy the anonymity.

Me too.
NIL8··on Show HN: Audioshop – Audio image editing
This is a very strange and fun idea. Good job!
NIL8··on Italy’s Struggling Economy Has World’s Healthiest People
Smoking is very common in Italy and I'm curious to know if the study elaborated on it's effects on these long-living Italians.
NIL8··on YouTube will no longer allow creators to make money until they reach 10000 views
That's an interesting point.
NIL8··on I Had My Electronics Seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection
I'd love to see this take off. Not sure I'm willing to sacrifice my own time with it but, the 'kids' would have a good laugh with it.
NIL8··on When You Fall in Love, This Is What Facebook Sees (2014)
I'm curious to know if this type of data could be used to track infidelity. I'm thinking further than domestic trouble and more towards blackmail, espionage, etc. I can see how this type of information could be useful for the wrong reasons.
NIL8··on Finland will hand out cash to 2000 jobless people to test universal basic income
For a good idea of what this type of program can do to a society, take a look at the native Americans. The monthly allotment received by most only perpetuates very serious social problems. I know that most who will push for these types of programs have good intentions, but the outcome will probably prove to do more harm than good, generally speaking.
NIL8··on Ask HN: What problem in your industry is a potential startup?
Interesting. I bet this would be useful all over the world. I wonder if there's anything like this available anywhere else. The longer I think on it, the better it sounds.

The biggest hurdle would probably be organized crime. It might sound crazy, but most ports are infested with deeply rooted criminals who are involved with even the most mundane aspects of the import/export arena. Of course, even organized crime can be disrupted with the right tech.

NIL8··on Ask HN: What are you currently building?
Do you have a website or something I can look at? I can send you my email. I just don't want to post it publicly.
NIL8··on Ask HN: What are you currently building?
Site looks great! I am saving it and will definitely be using it. I've wanted something like this for years.
NIL8··on Ask HN: What are you currently building?
Would love to know more about this...
NIL8··on This Christmas, give the gift of a blameless life to someone you love
Well said.
NIL8··on The Content Marketing Handbook
Content aside, I am amazed that they didn't force the reader to click through to a hundred different pages to read all of the content, like so many other sites do. Good job.
NIL8··on The United States Postal Service Will Now Email You Your Mail
I'm all too familiar with this :(
NIL8··on The United States Postal Service Will Now Email You Your Mail
How do they determine/handle junk mail?

Does this increase/decrease cost?

NIL8··on Ask HN: Any movies that changed your life?
War Games
NIL8··on Artificial Sweeteners May Change Our Gut Bacteria in Dangerous Ways
I can relate. You're probably right about them being multi-factorial, but changing toothpaste has been the biggest help to me. I use baking soda most of the time and have avoided these sores for years.
NIL8··on Fighting fires with sound frequencies
“One of the problems with sound waves is that they do not cool the fuel,” Isman said. “So even if you get the fire out, it will rekindle if you don’t either take away the fuel or cool it.”

Not to dumb it down, but I can see this being an effective tool for preventing grease flare-ups in my grill. It won't cool the coals, but it will kill the flames.

NIL8··on Paul Allen finds long-lost Japanese battleship
Yes! It's incredibly frustrating. I find a solution for one problem only to find out that the solution created a new problem. It's all because of sites like these. Maybe I'll just avoid these altogether or maybe I'll create a browser extension like Adblockplus that prevents me from following links to sites that are reported to have autoplay. What to do....
NIL8··on Paperspace – A full computer you can access from any web browser
This tech is what many of us have expected to become the "norm," but I still think most of us would prefer having our own toys under our own beds.

That being said, if they have nailed this, I see an acquisition in the very near future. This could be an incredibly profitable concept.

NIL8··on Paul Allen finds long-lost Japanese battleship
OT... I am really annoyed that so many news sites set their videos to autoplay. Facebook does it too. This was bad in the old days when it was common and it went out of favor for good reason.

Note to those responsible (not that they'll read this): I might want to watch your video after I first read some text. When I hear the video start up while I'm trying to read, I immediately try to press stop. This usually takes several attempts because your video players are awful. Nine times out of ten, I will leave the site without watching your video or reading the text. I don't have time for the aggravation.

NIL8··on Nomad SMS – Receive a local SMS anywhere in the world
Let me get this straight... I rent a number from you in another country. I can give this number out as my own so that others can send me a text. The text gets forwarded from the rented number to my email. Is this correct?

If so, I can already think of a couple of ways that it could come in handy.

NIL8··on Live Sails.js Course
Couple of things here:

1. The site and the courses look great but, why can't I sign up without a Facebook or Twitter account? This one issue was enough for me to leave the site. I compartmentalize my web affairs for many reasons and keeping my online accounts separate is very important for me. I'm writing this to encourage you (and others) to reconsider this practice.

2. I can see the icon that says "Beginner," but that doesn't tell me much. In your FAQ, I would recommend expounding on this. Beginner is too ambiguous.

NIL8··on You're self-medicating with one of the most dangerous drugs in the world
I couldn't even read the first sentence without being forced to sign up. Bad form.
NIL8··on Noisli – Improve focus and boost your productivity
HEY NOISLI !!!

Your site isn't loading in Firefox or Chrome.

Others have mentioned it, but it looks like you missed their comments. Just thought I'd mention it again.

NIL8··on Show HN: Pushpin – A new way to build realtime HTTP and WebSocket services
Whoever is responsible for your site's design has done an excellent job.
NIL8··on How to build a simple image and primary-colour similarity database
The page you linked to is very pleasant to view. The colors, spacing, and layout are remarkable. Your tutorial is great, too.
NIL8··on The underappreciated role of muscle in health and disease [pdf]
There are several interesting aspects of this article, but it could have used a little more editing. As I read through, I can hear my 7th grade English teacher saying, "structure and grammar." This lack of attention to detail makes me wonder what else might have been overlooked in the study.
NIL8··on Inspirograph
Cool! Nice work.

Here's a first-hand user's experience: It took me a bit to figure out how to make it work. I thought I should click the pen hole and press my mouse key as I move it around. Maybe a simple how-to description to get me started would be helpful. Of course, I could just play with it a little more :)

This is also true when it comes to political views.
