N3cr0ph4g1st··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
I've been alpha testing muse and there's precisely one area it's useful in.... Finding things on Facebook marketplace and haggling for me lol
N3cr0ph4g1st··on Google, Nvidia, and OpenAI
you live in a bubble.

my mom who barely knows how to use her own phone googles stuff and recently showed me tips she got from hitting ai mode after searching something on google.

my dad uses gemini built into email and sheets and chrome.

just 2 anecdotal examples. oh and ai pro subscription i bought applies to my whole family for 20 a month and comes with 2tb storage.

insane value. and again google can do this and is still highly profitable all whilst competing on having the best model.

this shit ain't close.

For 1) isn't prime intellect doing that or something like it?

You clearly haven't used 1.5 pro it seems. Pretty damn close to gpt-4o

Get rid of Sundar.
N3cr0ph4g1st··on Figma and Adobe abandon proposed merger
Good fuck em. They dangled this deal in my face why I was interviewing with figma and at least the people I dealt with were so sure it's a done deal.

Lame

N3cr0ph4g1st··on Layoffs.fyi
I'm getting a lot more too. I'm applying for senior DS or a level lower mle positions and have gotten significantly more interviews in the last few weeks than the previous 2 months
N3cr0ph4g1st··on Google preemptively banned hundreds of millions of 'pirate' URLs last year
How does it compare to searx.be?
N3cr0ph4g1st··on GPT-4 API General Availability
Easiest would honestly be just to use gpt api. You can literally fork a streamlit or chainlit app and run it locally and then use langchain for any further customization...ex:https://streamlit.io/gallery?category=llms

All of them are open source minus the gpt part so you can get a feel for how it works.

N3cr0ph4g1st··on Function calling and other API updates
I'm assuming something like humata.ai

This is great. I would love a date filter but even without, it is very useful.
N3cr0ph4g1st··on Caloric restriction increases lifespan but affects brain integrity in lemurs
Is stopping eating 3-4 hours really legit or just some traditional thought we've heard over and over again that sounded intuitive that we've come to accept? Lots of cultures that are long lived have late night meals and from a quick NCBI search, I found that even the old perceptions are getting proven wrong. Example:

A combined google and PaLM like experience along with the fact that google can scale this up much more easily and cheaply than any competitor due to their in house TPUs makes me think otherwise but we shall see. Very cool stuff happening.

N3cr0ph4g1st··on Stanford's War on Social Life
Your college experience sounds pretty terrible. Some of us were able to have a great social life while learning
N3cr0ph4g1st··on Use of ChatGPT generated text for posts on Stack Overflow is temporarily banned
Google is most likely already working on its own version. They have the resources and ML chops to probably build one far more powerful. I'd bet they'll stay dominant

N3cr0ph4g1st··on The great Miyazaki watch of 2022
Anime has entered the mainstream for a while now, idk what you're talking about. You see the number of NBA stars saying they love anime? There's a video just a few days ago of wiggs talking about demon slayer, a ton of players love Naruto, etc. Don't act like a dweeb and anime isn't the turn off it once was.
