So true. What's the best reference, guide, or write up you've come across that helps clarify?

Here's a link to bypass the wait list: https://beta.drugwars.online/install?code=ti83
MrMike··on Have a website? Fix these 2 mistakes right now
Good point, however, I'm not sure I can recall a time during which someone intended to collect a URL from me but allowed just "example.com" as a valid input. I'd venture to guess that the validation enforced more often than not actually helps the site owner achieve their intended goal.
MrMike··on A tiny startup is winning the race to power the smart home
Can you go into detail about your setup? Sounds awesome.
MrMike··on Ask HN: How was your experience using parse.com?
Agreed, 100%, about the tone of the "community advocates" parse has answering questions and supporting the forums (their internal + s/o). Huge turn off.
MrMike··on Ask HN: How was your experience using parse.com?
The downtime is extremely frustrating. They are pretty nonchalant about it as well, which is actually more of a concern than the fact that there was an issue.

Beyond that, there are some good use cases for apps to be built upon Parse and bad ones. It turns out that the thing I'm building is one of those bad use cases.

Parse appears to frown upon background processes. They have very tight restrictions on what can be done in the background and how fast it must be done.

If you have a social-esque app, at any kind of scale, fanning things out becomes a problem.

MrMike··on Ask HN: What service do you prefer for incorporating?
Just came across http://www.clerky.com which seems to be a preferred method but lots of startups. Anyone used them?

Indeed. Thanks for catching this. It's been a race since launching to button things up.

Do you have a few min to chat about your needs? Would love to expose the APIs that make sense for you to automate this.

I'd always wanted to try ExitMonitor (or equivalent services) from a pure optimization standpoint. So far it hasn't proved out to be worth it, and the annoying factor certainly overpowers the lift it provides.
MrMike··on Show HN: OverLook.io – Get your non-technical friends involved in QA and Testing
Thank you! Will work on these ASAP.

While I don't have a solution, I'm facing very similar challenges.
MrMike··on Ask HN: Resources for a photoshop expert to become a web design expert?
My news:yc app appears to be chopping off the last sentence. It should read:

What resources, including commercial classes, are available to take an amazing design guru and turn them into a designer that can also turn their beautiful work into HTML/CSS (scss, stylus, etc )?

MrMike··on Ask HN: "advisor" or "adviser"
Exactly. And the confusion compounds...
MrMike··on Ask HN: "advisor" or "adviser"
I saw that as well. A quick google search showed a 15x preference toward "advisor" based on the number of results for each.
MrMike··on The US Banking System Is Insecure
FDIC insurance is not there for you if someone takes money out of your account without your permission. It's there in case of Bank failure/collapse.
