Moon_Y··on FreeLLMAPI – One OpenAI-Compatible API for Multiple Free LLM Providers
FreeLLMAPI is an open-source LLM gateway that combines free tiers from multiple AI providers behind a single OpenAI-compatible /v1 endpoint.

It currently supports dozens of providers and hundreds of free model endpoints, with automatic routing, fallback when a provider hits rate limits, encrypted API key storage, and usage tracking for different free-tier limits. It can also connect to custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints.

The project can be self-hosted with Docker or used through its desktop app, and works with OpenAI-compatible clients and coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cline, Continue, Aider, Cursor, and others.

It is mainly intended for personal experimentation and prototyping rather than production workloads.

Moon_Y··on Run Qwen 3.8 Flash Next (125B) on consumer hardware (RTX 4090) at 100T/s
Setup was easier than I expected. I had it running locally in under 20 minutes, and the speed on my RTX 5070 is genuinely impressive.
Moon_Y··on Language models for text classification: From bag-of-words to Jev
Really enjoyed the historical framing here. Starting from bag-of-words and working up to Jev makes the “just a classifier” argument much more nuanced. The tradeoff between generality, speed, and cost is probably the most interesting part to me — especially where Jev sits between task-specific classifiers and full LLMs.
Moon_Y··on Who gets to define the rules for AI?
Allowing several leading laboratories to formulate their own rules under the protection of anti-monopoly exemptions essentially means outsourcing the formulation of public policies to the stakeholders. The direction of independent review is correct, but the review standards, enforcement authority, and participation qualifications must undergo public debate, rather than being determined behind closed doors by a few companies.
Moon_Y··on What you learn by making a new programming language
I just feel like this analogy is quite fitting.
Moon_Y··on Waymo to begin testing on San Francisco freeways this week
Waymo's continuous advancement and expansion in the field of autonomous driving technology. The plan to test fully autonomous vehicles without human safety drivers on freeways in the San Francisco Bay Area is a significant milestone. By having employees as the first testers, Waymo demonstrates confidence in its system.
Moon_Y··on What you learn by making a new programming language
Similar to woodworkers making their own tools, as programmers, we have the ability to create everything from operating systems to tools. This privilege is rare in other fields, allowing us to get closer to the tools we use. This autonomy enables us to have a deeper understanding and mastery of the tools and technologies we rely on.
Moon_Y··on EchoMimic:An audio clip, an image, generate a digital person
For traditional approaches, using only audio-driven methods can sometimes be unstable due to relatively weak audio signals, while relying solely on facial keypoints can lead to unnatural videos as it exerts too much control over the keypoints. EchoMimic, on the other hand, can not only generate portrait videos using audio or facial keypoints separately but also combine the two for generation.
Moon_Y··on Ask HN: How to Price a Product
If you don't have any relevant experience, an easy way to do this is to refer to similar products and see how they are priced.
Moon_Y··on Show HN: I created a self-typing typewriter (and connected it to an LLM)
A very interesting attempt, but it requires some hardware-related knowledge to make a similar attempt like the blogger.
Moon_Y··on How Olympic Timing Works
Technological advancements have led to precise timing. Compared to ten or twenty years ago, technology nowadays is truly much more advanced.

Moon_Y··on China's drivers fret as robotaxis pick up pace – and passengers
As passengers, most people are not actually anxious; instead, they hope to experience something novel. The only thing we worry about is that in the future, some people may lose their jobs because of this.
Moon_Y··on The oldest known recording of a human voice [video]
Indeed, there is too much noise, and it seems there's nothing worth listening to.
Moon_Y··on Robot dog cleans up beaches with foot-mounted vacuums
It's mind-blowing. I never imagined that robotic dogs could be used for such purposes.
Moon_Y··on Is Mars Habitable? (1907)
This post is a bit difficult to understand.
