MojoJolo··on TextTeaser – An automatic summarization algorithm
Just checked it in Github. It's 100% Scala. :)
MojoJolo··on TextTeaser – An automatic summarization algorithm
I require the title because I need it for the algorithm.
MojoJolo··on TextTeaser – An automatic summarization algorithm
You are right. I think Scala is a good language and handle functional programming well. But the code is too abstracted that even me might not get what it is doing. I just placed as a reminder for me. And also for everyone else to easily get what that piece of code is doing.
MojoJolo··on Show HN: Bit of News
Yep. :) Well, like any other summarization algorithms, I consider the title, sentence position, sentence length, and keyword frequency. The difference is that I improved the keyword frequency in which I used a special algorithm for it. I have plans to open source it, you'll see the whole algorithm soon.
MojoJolo··on Show HN: Bit of News
Yes, I will open source it soon. Here's a teaser: https://github.com/MojoJolo/textteaser

Well, why not try the TextTeaser API yourself (http://www.textteaser.com/)?

I'm the creator of the said API and thanks if you think it's impressive. Also thanks for bitofnews for using the API.

MojoJolo··on Show HN: Bit of News
Awesome!

Hi guys, I'm the creator of TextTeaser API that was used by Bit of News. :) I first thought that bitofnews is just a bot in Reddit. I'm really surprised that this is now a full blown website/app.

Thanks for Bit of News for using the TextTeaser API.

MojoJolo··on Ask HN: What open source license is appropriate for my project?
Thanks. Really not well versed with those licenses. Right now, I'm leaning to choose MIT. What do you think of it?
MojoJolo··on Ask HN: How to propose a partnership with a startup?
I think email is more possible to contact them. I don't have their contact number, and I live in a different country.
MojoJolo··on Ubuntu Edge - Less than 24 hours left, $20 million to go
Ah no. It's Fixed Funding.

This campaign will only receive funds if at least $32,000,000 is raised by its deadline.

Indiegogo offers two funding choices. Fixed and Flexi. Fixed is like Kickstarter. In flexi, you'll get what you just got.

Well, nothing can be summarized in the URL. :)

Message me in Mashape and I can give you free access so that you can try it out. ;)

What I love about Scala is that all (most, if not all) libraries built in Java can also be used. This includes those awesome apache libraries.

For Scala written libraries, here's a link to Github page: https://github.com/trending?l=scala

I would also like to add:

- To manage dependency, use SBT (http://www.scala-sbt.org/).

- For IDE, I recommend Scala IDE (http://scala-ide.org/).

If you guys really into Scala, I really recommend trying Finagle (https://github.com/twitter/finagle). It was also created by Twitter. It was a lightweight HTTP server and client for Scala. It's my favorite. With just a "single" line of code, you can create an HTTP server in Scala.

I usually combine it with Rogue (https://github.com/foursquare/rogue), an "ORM"-like for MongoDB. I used Finagle and Rogue to build a fast and lightweight REST API.

MojoJolo··on Ask HN: What are you working on right now?
TextTeaser (http://www.textteaser.com/), an Automatic Summarization API.
MojoJolo··on Scala vs. Go TCP Benchmark
@chetanahuja, I think he means that long running web apps was just initialized once and will continue running until they are stopped or restarted. So even though starting up JVM may takes time, that overhead was only done once.
MojoJolo··on Ask HN: What is the best way to introduce your startup to the world?
Our startup is an automatic summarization API (http://www.textteaser.com/). I once wrote an article in Medium (https://medium.com/medium-ideas/59b1747c1d36) to showcase how our technology will perform with Medium articles. It received good feedback. Frontpage in Hacker News plus top post in Medium for last month. We then create a bot in Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/user/tldrrr?sort=top) to summarize submitted articles. Mostly good feedback but some subreddits banned the bot eventually.

So my tip is, don't just show the world your product. Show the world what your product can do.

It is best if you can show your product to where people are familiar with. In my case I used Medium, and Reddit. I'm planning to do it to some popular web applications next time.

MojoJolo··on What a 600,000-megapixel-wide picture looks like
Good catch right there. Removed the overlay and saw a man washing his hands in a sink, and a woman sleeping.
MojoJolo··on Ask HN: How do you manage your Twitter timeline?
I don't always check all the tweets (I follow 108 people). What I mostly check and is excited to is the Twitter Interactions. Mentions, replies, follower notifications go there. And those are relevant for me.
MojoJolo··on Poll: How old are you?
It depends where you are. I'm currently 21 here, but I think I'm still 20 in the other side of the world. :)
MojoJolo··on Automatic Summarization in Medium
Will ask my adviser about it and upload the pdf later. :)
MojoJolo··on Automatic Summarization in Medium
Hi, I built Readborg (http://readborg.com/) to showcase what the algorithm (TextTeaser) can do. It is a news reader for Philippine news.
MojoJolo··on Automatic Summarization in Medium
I'm using 4 features of the article: Title, sentence length, sentence position, and modified keyword frequency. The first three features are just normal that you can see in most automatic summarization research. Modified keyword frequency considers not just the frequency, but also the distance of each keyword. :) There. That's just a brief explanation of how TextTeaser works.
MojoJolo··on Automatic Summarization in Medium
I like your comment. Even though you mention that it should not be used in Medium, you still praise the technology. :) Thanks!

I have some happy idea about this. But it never happen.

MojoJolo··on Ask HN: Which javascript charting library to use?
Try Chart.js (http://www.chartjs.org/). :)
MojoJolo··on 15-year-old girl invents flashlight powered by the heat of your hand
Thanks. Never had a knowledge about thermodynamics. I just googled perpetual motion and the laws of thermodynamics. And yes, I agree that my comment above doesn't follow those laws. It's good to learn these new things. :-)
MojoJolo··on 15-year-old girl invents flashlight powered by the heat of your hand
Can this technology work in an airconditioned room? I was thinking if this technology can provide enough electricity to even just lighting up a single room. It can use the heat outside, and the cool air (form air condition) inside the room.

All in all, very good invention! And also inspiring. I hope more teens will be involve in inventing things. I hope she wins. Also, (totally unrelated) I think she's cute. :)

MojoJolo··on Ask HN: How to build a github portfolio?
I also have this question. I'm not contributing to open source (yet). It is because I have more fun in developing my personal projects. But most or all of them are not in Github (well, they are in BitBucket, but in a private repo).
