Mo3··on Llama 3-V: Matching GPT4-V with a 100x smaller model and 500 dollars
Of course, it's nothing else. Who could possibly believe that OpenAI and others would dump billions into development and training and aren't smart enough to figure out they could also do it with $500.
Mo3··on Microsoft Paint's new AI image generator builds on your brushstrokes
Brother all of this upcoming AI integration in Windows opens a whole new era of siphoning off valuable user data, that little stable diffusion on MS Paint there could be written off as a small PR and marketing position. In any case it runs locally.
Mo3··on Is artificial consciousness achievable? Lessons from the human brain
I subscribe to this theory. In that case it's not necessarily unprovable though. We will eventually figure out how to make electronic devices resonate with the field just like our brain does.
Mo3··on A low budget consumer hardware espionage implant (2018)
NL here, no ID check whatsoever
Mo3··on ChatGPT consumes 25 times more energy than Google
I really don't think that is how that works? Water cooling in servers works the same as in desktops, just with way bigger radiators. Maybe there are tapping into some other available way of cooling
Mo3··on Claude is now available in Europe
You should be banned for this

Mo3··on Brazil's catastrophic weather spawns spate of conspiracy theories
They've been doing that for years, yeah. Media said it wasn't related
Mo3··on Deletion of user account
That sounds like the most reasonable explanation for this.
Mo3··on Deletion of user account
If you go back on the Wayback Machine it was 29,90€ 9 months ago too
Mo3··on Install Asdf: One Runtime Manager to Rule All Dev Environments
Same here. Never heard of it until a few months ago when I got back into Ruby on Rails after 12 years.

Also, contrary to the other comments in this chain I don't find it particularly slow..

Mo3··on WD launches 4TB SD card
Meanwhile my internet speed has increased from 50Mbit/s to 8Gbit/s..
Mo3··on WD launches 4TB SD card
Yes, these RED cards basically just contain SSDs inside. However the title clearly says "SD"
Mo3··on Fairbuds: In-ear with replaceable batteries
Hm. I have Sennheiser and Bose Bluetooth headphones and found AAC and AptX HD codecs on highest quality settings (on Android in dev tools) to be really good and almost indistinguishable from wired connections.

I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but my hearing is pretty good and I'm sensitive to quality loss

Mo3··on Meta's AI image generator can't imagine an Asian man with a white woman
And another author who doesn't understand how generative models work
Mo3··on Homemade 6 GHz pulse compression radar
Because you tend to hold phones right to your brain.
Mo3··on Welcome to the AI Gadget Era
The bubble is getting more irrational.. wonder when it will pop.
Mo3··on H.R.1332 – Thirty-Two Hour Workweek Act
With 40 hour pay? That's the real question
Mo3··on Vegetable stock: my secret lover (2011)
Weird. So ground up "bell peppers" are called Paprika instead of the "bell pepper" itself.
Mo3··on S.3819 – Shrinkflation Prevention Act of 2024
"Never let a good crisis go to waste" is commonplace knowledge.
Mo3··on Google cut a deal with Reddit for AI training data
The second option I linked also replaces all comments and posts with random scrambled gibberish, not only "deleting" it. I would agree that deleted != actually deleted, but scrambling all content might actually work to prevent further siphoning
Mo3··on Google cut a deal with Reddit for AI training data
Just a reminder this exists:

Mo3··on Google cut a deal with Reddit for AI training data
Lol, it's essentially just advertisement and psyops bots, echo chambers and specific discussions in specific subreddits at this point.
Mo3··on AstraZeneca unveils successes in treatment of lung cancer
"We" don't. Here in NL euthanasia is freely available if needed.
Mo3··on OpenAI – Application for US trademark “GPT” has failed
Really? On hacker news?
Mo3··on Over 50% of the population of Germany does not own their home
Wait until you hear about the Netherlands and doing their own floors. I (German) was absolutely flabbergasted when I looked at apartments and almost none of them had floors in them. At least kitchens make sense. You configure it once to your needs, and then take it around from place to place until you eventually end up in a house, still with your specifically configured nice kitchen.
Mo3··on Taggers have sprayed graffiti on 27 stories of a downtown Los Angeles skyscraper
Opposite of the crypto.com arena. Lol
Mo3··on Periodontal Disease Promotes Alzheimer's in Mice
In Germany cleanings are not covered, neither are Periodontitis treatments and also not even basic implants, only bridges.

In the Netherlands dental work is not covered at all for adults (besides pulling teeth by a surgeon)

You would have to get additional private dental insurance which only covers a certain percentage (mostly 50-75%) and is capped at around 750 Euros per annum while costing almost the same per annum.

Source: German living in NL and now having to pay out of my backside for Periodontitis treatment no matter if in Germany or NL

Mo3··on This induction stove is cool as hell
I don't understand how this can accurately measure the temperature of the cookware itself. I have an induction stove, and the stoves surface never gets nearly as hot as the pan or pot itself.
Mo3··on The failure of self-checkout technology
Annoying? A person comes and scans a few of the items on the counter, then leaves again. If that is already annoying to you, you must live a very stressed life
Mo3··on I'm sorry but I cannot fulfill this request it goes against OpenAI use policy
And so it starts
