I wish this comment was voted higher. There's a lot of misinformation in this thread.

Sorry if it was not clear. Sensei, along with all of other other plugins will remain and continue being develop as normal. No need to worry at all. We have a lot of exciting things coming up for Sensei ;)

There are only two places where the URL should be stored. Anywhere else is an issue with the plugin or theme storing them incorrectly. Both are contained within the wp_options table for home URL and site URL. Those are the only values required to be changed. If you have a development environment, you should not be migrating the wp-config.php file anyway as it has sensitive information for product sites thus on your dev site you can have a separate wp-config.php file to take into account the new values for home and site URL's.
MichaelTieso··on WooThemes joins Automattic
I won't go into detail on that here but know that there's a very good reason for it. Plugin and theme developers should be using for example `esc_url( home_url( '/' ) );` when requiring the URL of the site.

You can change the sites domain within `wp-config.php` too. See http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#WordPress_a...

You're right. We could have done a better job at documenting the REST API. We've been slowly introducing and fixing issues with the the REST API since it's debut. We never fully announced it as it was still very much a work in progress. However in WC 2.3 I'm happy to announce we've significantly improved the REST API and documentation.

Without a doubt we're also going to have many more resources joining Automattic and their talented group.

There are no immediate plans to do this but you can expect that we'll be discussing the possibility of different ways we can integrate better.

The WooCommerce eco-system relies on our third-party developers and we will continue working with them. We don't have any immediate changes that would affect developers and agencies. We do plan to introduce a new developer program (a re-imagined Affiliated Woo Workers) to help agencies and developers in the coming months but is unrelated to the acquisition and has been in the works for the last few months.

MichaelTieso··on Lily – Drone camera
Shared on Facebook and sadly showed up as "Home page - Lily" with no meta description. If you're looking for more people to share and click, try fixing your meta tags so when people share it shows full a good teaser of the product is.
MichaelTieso··on Graph of Foursquare's Popularity After Removing Check-Ins
Since the iPhone introduced widgets, I've found it a lot easier to check-in using Swarm. I swipe down and click check-in. It already knows where I am. Before this, I rarely used Swarm.
MichaelTieso··on TANX: online multiplayer tank battle using WebGL and Node.js
Very difficult with a touchpad. I couldn't hit anything! That's why I have a separate keyboard and mouse for gaming on my MBP.
MichaelTieso··on Add a dirt-cheap screen to the Raspberry Pi B+
This has been an issue for me for awhile. I've been scouting for screens for awhile for something cheap. I've been visiting GoodWill often as they have a large selection of monitors to choose from but most of them are far too large for a small screen. $15 is a great deal for a cheap monitor, but it takes up a huge amount of room.
MichaelTieso··on Our Director of Engineering on the new Wired.com
This seems opinion based. I'd argue WordPress has a much stronger community.
MichaelTieso··on Our Director of Engineering on the new Wired.com
Perhaps biased since I work for WooThemes but I disagree. First of all WooCommerce is free. What you need on your site is not needed on all sites. There is no "basic" version of WooCommerce. There is only one version and what you need on top of that is up to you. Extensions can be purchased from our marketplace or several others, but that's optional. There are free ones on WordPress.org that provide what you're looking for that are free but you will need to pay for support. WooCommerce itself works the same way. You also have the option to develop what you need on your site.
MichaelTieso··on Make Your Startup Great at One Thing
I get what the author is trying to say but thought I'd add a bit on the Ninja Wallet mentioned there.

I have a Pocket Monkey (http://zootilitytools.com) which is similar to Wallet Ninja and have been carrying this around for over a year in my wallet. I personally love this tool and will never leave home without it. Much like as Swiss Army Knife, this thing has been useful so many times for me. Admittedly however my most frequently used part of the tool is the bottle opener. Other aspects of the tool don't get used quite as often. However if I were to carry the rather large tool the author links to, it would not fit in my wallet.

gmu3 mentions the issue with airports. I travel very frequently through several different countries including the US and have never had any issues keeping this in my wallet. I've only been questioned once but they were okay with it and let me keep it. It's not sharp enough.

The Pocket Monkey is an easy conversation starter as well. Every time I whip it out to open someones beer because there are no openers available they are often impressed of how small and strong it is.

Disclaimer: I was given a Pocket Monkey (worth $12) free to review on my own site in 2013.

I wonder however if Eugene were a Football Coach if he Edwin would then be called Ed for short. Perhaps Dan into Daniel and Mike into Michael for Electrical Engineer.
MichaelTieso··on Those making $1,000+/month on side projects – what did you make?
You're right. I'm Sorry.

I run a membership site called travelblogsuccess.com. My full-time job is at WooThemes for WooCommerce. I'm a firm believer of "eating your own dog food" thus we use WooCoommerce and several other plugins on my own side project. This has given me a better understanding of the products we sell at WooThemes as an actual customer on a live site. I learned more about our own products using it for my side project than learning and testing our plugins on a local development server.

As for the site itself it does require maintenance so not quite passive. It's important that we communicate with our community and update our lessons and courses often. We just introduced a public Slack community yesterday for example. We're now a team of four and could easily need more help. 2014 saw huge growth.

Initially I was concerned that my side project was going to take up too much of my time resulting in having two full-time positions. It did take some lifestyle changes in the beginning to free more time like spending less time messing around Facebook or Twitter and optimizing my time spent on my side project. In the end everything has worked very well. I spend on average an hour or two each day on my side project. Sometimes more if I'm simply watching TV while working on a few tasks during my downtime.

Sorry for the initial vague comment. Please do feel free to ask me any questions.

MichaelTieso··on Kickstarter switches to Stripe
Amazon is not killing payments, just a product for payments. Eventually everything but Login and Pay with Amazon will be discontinued.
MichaelTieso··on Those making $1,000+/month on side projects – what did you make?
I'm bringing home about $2,500 a month on my side project. This year I plan on doubling it. The issue is that this is really starting to becoming another full-time job.

MichaelTieso··on Ai Weiwei Is Living in Our Future
For those in the SF area, I highly recommend going to Alcatraz to experience some of Ai Weiwei's work. http://www.for-site.org/project/ai-weiwei-alcatraz/

Never Sorry is a fantastic documentary on Ai Weiwei's life. I contributed to documentary while it was Kickstarter and got to see it in a theater in DC. http://aiweiweineversorry.com/

MichaelTieso··on AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition: Now Shipping to Dealers
Lots of great memories with the Amiga. It was my first computer. I remember the day my dad had told me he was selling my Amiga for a PC. I had cried and told him not to do it. I had maybe a dozen drawers filled with floppy disks mostly of games. It lasted maybe for another year before I gave in for a PC. Can't remember what year that was but I know I had about two or three Amiga's and at least two in the house always.

MichaelTieso··on Carmack reveals the challenges of mobile VR game development
I'm pretty sure he's mentioned at a QuakeCon how much of a pleasure it was developing for the iPhone/iPad. Can't find the video but I think it was at 2013 QuakeCon.
MichaelTieso··on Show HN: NomadList – The best cities to live and work remotely in
I've been working remotely and traveling around the world for the last 5 years. I found I don't really need that much stuff and travel quite often. I'm finally settling in Seattle but still will be moving around often. Not having "stuff" helps a lot.
