However, thanks for posting, as I had missed it.
I like the way your mind works - and so look forward to following your work.
Note: readability only of late thought to start displaying URL at end of articles.
EDITs:
1) Meant to say I'm pleased to see you working on more flexible/powerful version than Readability (don't much like their latest approach of redirecting during reformatting).
2) You might want to try this sort of test-case - for which Readable only presents the first paragraph: http://boston.com/bostonglobe/ideas/articles/2011/05/08/seni...
Worse: Lie. Bald-face lie.
Yes, but as any cognitive psychology banks his career on... we are also information-seeking creatures: basing survival strategies on our ability to predict, control, and assess the degree of our control, etc.
See also the last decade's research on choice behavior, etc. The whole field of marketing psychology is based on information processing (not necessarily rationally evaluated information, but interpretations of numerous forms of infomration).
I see that as a usability issue. I'm willing to bet that IEC did no usability studies. Compounding the issue... did they do any public-awareness campaigns? If so, they all missed me :/
Related issue: Menus (my Apple devices/software seem particularly acute) that don't tell you a current on/off state - but expect you to deduce it from the fact that (apparently) the option to shift to the other state is available (non-greyed-out).
"This will currently work best on a WebKit browser such as Safari or Chrome. It will also work on Firefox, but I'm not testing it there very often, so it will always be a couple versions behind."
But then wasn't it Twain who said, "In the future 80 percent of all quotations will be attributed to Mark Twain"?
They may be employees somewhere - but not all employees of the state.
However: just now watching eyepatchentertainment's test broadcast I find it remarkable. Sharp picture. Perfectly synced sound. Smooth scroll of live comments. Unknown fps, but it has no jerkiness to video.
I worry for what this will do re" jacquesm's ww.com.
Looks like youtube-live will be setting the standard for streaming vid.
"B school" == "Business school"
Not that I, personally, am not repulsed by them, but what about banning "promotion" of "...violence or use of illegal drugs?" Is this standard applied in your movie theaters, too. That would keep you "safe" from a lot of Hollywood's productions.
I don't mean to be hard on Aussies - since wide swaths of U.S. population might vote for such censorship. I'm just wondering whether such tight, subjective control is the norm down under?
"The body of B. Franklin, Printer (Like the Cover of an Old Book, Its Contents torn Out And Stript of its Lettering and Gilding) Lies Here, Food for Worms. But the Work shall not be Lost; For it will (as he Believ'd) Appear once More In a New and More Elegant Edition Revised and Corrected By the Author. " --Benjamin Franklin (self-authored epitaph)
Edit: updated to show his final version.
"No results found for "electable caste"."
- avoiding the pejorative-sounding 'ilk.' - but conveying the realm of demagogues who legislate unintended consequences along with their campaigns to save humanity from (depravity, etc.).
>>Drew Houston stormed onto the scene with his "GDrive killer," which was, of course, Dropbox
The Supreme Court has declared that corporations have many of the same rights as individuals. We fleshly individuals, however, do not have the same power as mega-corporations, nor does our 'free speech' have the same same power as 'free speech' promulgated/backed by a $100B corporation, nor will my campaign contribution have the influence as a corporation's (left-wing, right-wing, whatever). Is it inappropriate to be worried?
But this one DLs to an OmniOutliner doc ?!? Unfortunate. And author's site (nathanmarz.com) does not even mention this presentation. Can you help us out Nathan?
This might almost be worth an "Ask HN" but where does a guy starting a lean blog presence find useful attractive (free? cheap?) images that are topical? You seem to have done really well on that: are they from the manufacturer?
In either case: how do you determine (without long legal chase for just one image-use) willingness of original owner to have their product images used?
"... much better to learn computer science in college (or before)? Because after college it’s very hard to find the time and discipline to teach yourself coding. On the other hand, it’s pretty easy to pick up business skills, economics and all sorts of other skills on the job or in grad school."
...and that a more rational approach is to say, "The value of a possible success" is high enough that it's worth the expenditure of energy to bet the "losing" side of a p = .01 (or whatever)".
[of course it's going to depend on who is expending the energy - and who get what portions of the possible success benefits]
...of the ex. whom she killed. :)
Completely to be expected from people bent on total domination.
Cmd(cntl)+(+key) cannot be used to enlarge text for the visually impaired (or just those with high pixel density screens) - not without breaking the bounds of they graphics they're placed over.
EDIT:
Second thought... Why just say, "experience our comprehensive privacy measures instated for your peace of mind"? How about a link to a page describing those measures? I suggest this because I'm the wary type: I don't spend time 'experiencing' without major reassurance in advance. That's also why I don't provide an email address 'for notification' unless the landing page (or at least additional pages linked thereon) powerfully sells me on "wow, this promises to be really cool (or really solve a problem that's been bugging my life)" )
Hope that some help.
Even worse when administrative does not have your (teacher's) back.
If you doubt that the Peter Principle still applies, spend some time in faculty meetings and check out the admins. There are exceptions, of course. But IMHO (observation) the "No more A-holes" rule is more honored in the breach than the observance.
EDIT: So, presumably one could access it from IE as well (not something I can test from here).
?Were they using PayPal to pay their host or something?
Plus: that "bit longer" (into summer) offers hope of it being an iphone5.
