MattDamonSpace··on Turn off Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 and get its disk space back
I was happily using Apple in the 90s before everyone came on board

Stock price aside, I’ll be happy using them when everyone moves on

MattDamonSpace··on Treachery in the Rodin Museum 3D scan verdict
What is a spatial index
MattDamonSpace··on Coding is not solved
Yeah no one wrote buggy code before 2024 right
MattDamonSpace··on Grok 4.7
Are there good tools for doing context audits? I feel I have no good way to visualize what a new session is getting by default in a given repo without crawling through every potentially included markdown file
MattDamonSpace··on Swift 6.4 Released
For now?
MattDamonSpace··on Swift 6.4 Released
Not to mention it’s built on top of Apple’s other private UI frameworks
MattDamonSpace··on GPT-5.6 Luna vs. GPT-6 Astra: Is a $1.20 Model Good Enough for Code Review?
Yes. I sympathize with the “every PR needs human eyes on it” ethos but fundamentally the only thing that scales with AI PR generation is AI PR review.
MattDamonSpace··on The AI job market in 2026
Go long the market
MattDamonSpace··on Homebrew 7.0.0
A new era of native macOS apps is upon us.

GUIs abound. Rejoice!

MattDamonSpace··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
Yeah this to me is why Apple wins
MattDamonSpace··on GPT-6 Astra
“As we were told to do” girl you gotta be responsible for yourself
MattDamonSpace··on Mamdani Bans AI in NYC Schools
Seems premature but then again humans are always a bit skiddish around change

Still, not shocking that the DSA stronghold that elected someone like Mamdani is going to be passionate against AI.

Will be interesting to watch outcomes diverge over the next few years. If you’re gonna ban stuff, do it at local levels like this so we can see differences play out across many locations/districts.

MattDamonSpace··on The ChatGPT/Codex app bundles a full copy of LibreOffice
frankly how dare you
MattDamonSpace··on Dwarf Fortress' creator says the industry's in shambles over AI
Not to mention “labor they don’t understand” is only possible with specialization and modernity.

Back when everyone was a farmer, yeah sure everyone understood the job

MattDamonSpace··on Marx, Keynes, and AI
Not compelling for the basic reason laid out at the start of the article: this is just a re-phrasing of Marx

The guy was telling a story about capitalist economies in the 1800s. Little, if anything, about the next 100+ years has proven his stories or concerns valid.

MattDamonSpace··on Coding expertise is going to collapse from AI reliance
It did, it’s just a question of “would it have been worth preventing compiler adoption/usage to attempt to preserve assembly knowledge”
MattDamonSpace··on Aaron Swartz was prosecuted for scraping, while Meta does it without consequence
“People who generate valuable information should be uncompensated”
MattDamonSpace··on Sticky wage norms and the real wage cost of unexpected inflation
Most Americans are shareholders, I’m all for spreading the wealth but don’t ignore why there’s so much to spread. Americans reinvest for profit
MattDamonSpace··on Memory prices climb 500% in 12 months
Free Market doesn’t mean new ram production can “just be stood up”

And given that these are independent actors in the free market, they’ve seen the history of boom/bust cycles in this market

Free market doesn’t mean “everything just magically happens”
