Makeitmakesense··on Los Puesteros, solitary men who look after ranches and livestock in Patagonia
Are you open to the other tasks this life requires or are you just looking for western comfort but in a place far from whatever you have now?

Living out here means dealing with real problems because there is no infrastructure. You need to know how to survive if that solar panels break and you need 2 weeks to get a new ones. What happens if the food delivery couldn't make it for one extra week because the one guy who flies that out is sick. Can you handle illness without medicine or a doctor for a few days. etc..

The people shown in this article live very differently then the starlink solar van campers who work in tech and glamp out in the Sierra Nevda on Saturday night.

How do you know its not stage 0.5 or stage 3? Genuinely want to understand if this is climate change driven or just apart of the cycle of boreal forest fires that have raged in northern Ontario for centuries.

I said race tuned. For regular roads I agree
Makeitmakesense··on My midlife crisis Corolla is fast, furious, and modded
Ok if anyone does find this comment, its as simple as this 1 - Manual race tuned cars are all about mechanical engagement for the driver. The engine sound is almost a requirement so you can shift without having to look at the tach.

2 - Modding cars for more noise or looks is a preference thing and in some cases can be annoying and even law breaking. We live in a chaotic world

3 - EVs are faster but do no offer the same mechanical engagement with the car. A manual requires you to understand what the engine and wheels are doing to properly clutch and shift and while doing that you are also dealing with brake and body weight shift, etc. Its analog vs digital, its rolex vs casio, its 70mm film vs Laser.

Makeitmakesense··on In San Francisco, even $180k tech salaries are no longer enough
People don't bring it up because it requires doing things most understand to not be options. 1 - how would you stop people from moving to SF if they choose 2 - it stops dynamism for the city. You are here because you were already here is the only requisite.

The prices going up is the market creating the incentive for less people to not move to SF and old guard to stay. You already have that. You are not going to bring down prices while limiting people without legislation that goes into dangerous territory of limiting who can live in one of Americas most dynamic cities.
