We’re living down to it.
Write this headline about Mastodon and no one would read it.
TVs.
In this case, it’s pure business.
Or something like that. Basically, the person from the government who contacted them was the sad messenger and not the original complainer.
Why would I write it for anything else?
I assume that’s what the author did.
I didn’t learn the real purpose until long after they were gone.
Some early PS games are truly awful. Realism of people especially didn’t work.
Others still look great. Ridge Racer, PaRappa, Jumping Flash, Ape Escape.
Same reason Mario 64 still looks good and Goldeneye doesn’t.
What possible argument is there against that?
Do you really think most consumers didn’t care? Or do you think most consumers don’t even know? Cause I’m willing to bet it’s number two.
This is a primarily a labeling law it seems so people don’t get accidentally screwed. Seems like a good idea to me.
So what is the right way then?
Turnis taking the reins perhaps?
This has clearly been tilting at windmills this entire time. They were never going to win. How much time and money could they have saved by giving a reasonable amount instead of sticking their fingers in their ears and yelling “la la la I can’t hear you why do you love criminals”?
What’s a decent amount? No idea. Don’t test it :)
There’s no need to implement a custom blur.
I don’t accidentally take screenshots very often, though it does happen.
I know multiple people who seem to take them constantly. It’s crazy. You and I may not do it, but I promise you there are people who do. LOTS of them.
This is a failure of imagination for Apple, but it’s hard to blame them.
Who would think someone would put a button inside a “secure” text field and change the masked appearance to a logo?
If I was proposing this feature, I would never imagine someone would come up with something like that.
How could you ever provide support to a user? “First take 200 screenshots and send those to me…”
They’re abusing an iOS text rendering control function handled by the OS. Before the screenshot is taken iOS swapped out the rendered text for “sensitive” fields and images that.
The replacement is supposed to be something like a masked account number, password asterisks, or just general blur.
Not a marketing logo.
I’m not sure why the app needs to be notified. There must be some use but I can’t think of it off the top of my head.
