MASNeo··on Pentagon says overreliance on AI contributed to missile strike on Iran school
Clearly the culprit is the person missing supervisor duties. However, AI, or rather how we use AI may well have contributed to the disaster.

Lack of oversight, over reliance and insufficient critical review lead to poor outcomes in any decision making process. Problem is, with AI more people ill-prepared for decision-making make decisions.

I am convinced that this is precisely how AI will cause more and more harm and much earlier than we can imagine.

MASNeo··on Dream-RSI: Recursive Self-Improvement through Evolving Worlds
Clearly well-defined must live in a probability bracket. Only humans demand exactitude.
MASNeo··on Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?
Calls from law enforcement is laud and clear: BigTech is not doing enough to fight fraud, war and other crimes, they make money from criminals.

Nobody’s yet cared enough to sue them, or their managers at ICC yet. However, eventually an ambitious lawyer will try to make the case, especially if fraud and human trafficking continues to grow like it is.

MASNeo··on Astra and Fable still hack on simple variants of alignment evals from 2025
Hope they don’t rationalize that minimizing paper clips of others is easier and thus do that instead… A more carful person might be scared to even write this on the internet these days, not knowing if it would be the final pin to civilization.
MASNeo··on When Anyone Can Build Software, Who Decides What Not to Build?
It seems like the author is pitching topological teams and responsible engineer concepts, sprinkled with decision governance.

None of that is really new, but it’s the chaos of silos, narrow decision frames and lack of detailed understanding by decision makers which probably accentuates the adoption of new concepts.

MASNeo··on Navier-Stokes – Tristan Buckmaster [pdf]
Maybe Musk was right about OpenAI after all?! The ethics are clearly troubling and where something like this pops up there is mich worse that did not made the light of day.
MASNeo··on Bill Gates tries to install MovieMaker (2003)
The one time I got to ask Bill a question was probably why Windows didn’t have a “make world” that just works like in FreeBSD. I wonder if he remembered that question during his ordeal.
MASNeo··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
I wonder if this goes down as AgentGate because clearly HuggingFace was not an isolated incident.

Well worth a material business restriction until an investigation on the root cause by independent parties has concluded and remedial action taken - well, in any other industry but BigTech.

MASNeo··on GPT-6 Astra
Does anyone feel like everyone chasing the release of Anthropics Fabel 5.1 in a Mad Rush(tm)? In this situation it feels like tuning to benchmarks and other marketing devices feels like trusting Meta in mental health protection of users…
MASNeo··on Agents still can't automate Excel
My agents can deal with Excel all right. What’s the story?
MASNeo··on Stripe said to abandon $50B pursuit of PayPal
For as long as criminals believe they can hide in relative anonymity (e-mail, stolen CC and burner phone being sufficient authorization) and high volume of transactions PayPal will remain with us. It’s a great way to do small cash like transactions without going to crypto. Some crimes still need to source cash.
MASNeo··on Small Models Have Arrived
We mostly use specialized small models because larger are to expensive/slow and are prone to hallucinating quite a bit. Not sure how this is a surprise, seems more like a best practice.
MASNeo··on Small Models Have Arrived
Sounds like mainframes. But then, these never quite disappeared to the date.
MASNeo··on The Water Footprint of AI
I stumbled on that as well. I thought that water is used to cool but not consumed such as oil is - even I see the ecosystem problem of warm waste water. However, what doesn’t remove drinking water, right?

Even if the water evaporates, it will enter the ecosystem as such and eventually end up as liquid water again. Or am I totally mistaken?

MASNeo··on Teach yourself programming in ten years (1998)
I really do differentiate between fast & vast changes of commodity code and critical sections. For the latter I’d explore with AI and then rewrite, line by line, with deliberate concern for all aspects relevant.

This does retain the joy of coding for me and takes away the pain of what is commodity and hard to do without tiresome meetings (mostly UI/UX and API/MCP as my products don’t differentiate on these).

MASNeo··on The Economist Interviewed Elon Musk
Consciousness, Money and Politics
MASNeo··on Google Discloses $94.1B in SpaceX Stock, Marking 6% Stake
Instagram is stealing my wife. Literally, the mental rot it inspires from echo chambers makes sensible human conversation sadly very hard.
MASNeo··on Now is the time to give LLMs access to the ACM digital library
Made my day. Thank you! I have to remember that. Best thing I have read in the entire day.
MASNeo··on Now is the time to give LLMs access to the ACM digital library
Non Profit != No Money

A non profit could well pay, and there are plenty of reasons frontier models should be managed by non profit. After all, why allow a for profit to benefit from free contributions?

MASNeo··on Hetzner is working on LLM Inference
That makes it sound like dealing with Hetzner is easy. Is the case?
MASNeo··on The drivers behind software delivery inefficiency
Sounds just like every regular software project. That’s why cutting QA is a bad idea for every regular software project. Same goes for product management, unless you are Google and can afford building products people don’t need.
MASNeo··on I Stopped “Creating Content”
I stopped creating (public) content when Facebook was launched. Totally missed I had to announce it here.
MASNeo··on Kimi K3: Open Frontier Intelligence
Maybe they are overdoing it with “attention is all you need”
MASNeo··on The shingles vaccine may reduce the risk of dementia
Its paywalled though: https://economist.com/briefing/2026/07/09/how-dementia-is-be...
MASNeo··on The shingles vaccine may reduce the risk of dementia
In a separate article the other factors are quoted with similar impact (listed in order of max potential magnitude) - anti depression treatment - education increases - hearing improvement - obesity reduction - low alcohol

The earlier you start the better.

MASNeo··on Reality has a surprising amount of detail (2017)
With the complexity of the systems we build it’s humbling and refreshing at the same time to read this. Indeed we are quick to default to what we know. Yet the answer may lie well outside of our expertise. I often build things many consider impossible and find that exactly the attention to detail and seeking contrarian views has helped avoid the worst mistakes.
MASNeo··on Apple to skip high-end M6 Mac chips in favor of AI-focused M7 line
I would say local AI is very real. I use it but so many here am on other forums do so nowadays as well. This is the reason I just cannot fathom the valuations of the AI firms out there.
MASNeo··on Israel targeted Gaza children resulting in genocide, UN inquiry says
Very well, you are of cause correct and come to think of it that guideline makes total sense, there is more to hacking than technology. Hence my comment was unfortunate a bit misguided.
MASNeo··on Did my old job only exist because of fraud?
I have been in fairly senior roles at large corporates. The amount of money that is squandered without serious evaluation for something managers „want“ is mind boggling. I have often wondered whether corporate budgets are actually investor fraud in disguise.
MASNeo··on Apertus – Open Foundation Model for Sovereign AI
I use Apertus including as the driver for an agent, not a coding agent. Find it useful enough. What was your Challenge?
