MASNeo··on Show HN: Would You Rent a Robot for Your Home?
That is more rough than I wanted it to be. Essentially we consider home cleaning the most complex activity and would charge more for that, the robot would be used more, has a higher probability to get mechanical or electrical issues or confused in someway and require a remote or even onsite assist by a technician.

The reason the individual activities are distributed is that we like to see which set of actives appeal more to potential customers. That’s actually a measurement for us but we likely make that an interactive selection in the next iteration. It completely get why you find it a bit confusing.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.

MASNeo··on Show HN: Would You Rent a Robot for Your Home?
Thank you. Could you clarify if that perspective relates to home cleaning and gardening activities or do you also question the capability to perform for entertainment and security?
MASNeo··on Show HN: Would You Rent a Robot for Your Home?
I appreciate the consideration. Thank you.

For a home cleaning dusting, cooking and tidying up were actually tasks I believe should be possible. I am in conversations with vendors to see task performance for this. That said, I am optimistic but sceptical. I take away that the actual task performance would better be demonstrated and will take videos to evidence to customers.

There are several security and entertainment tasks that I believe are more agreeable to be performed, would you not agree?

I am surprised there are no concerns about security/safety, is that not an aspect that would be of importance?

Thank you. That’s very comprehensive feedback. I can relate to many of what you say. I understand that unitree does come with a version that has an SDK, so using that might be permissible in T&S. The pricing I could imagine change.

My most valuable takeaway is that there isn’t strong conviction that these can do the tasks required. Leaving essentially just entertainment..

MASNeo··on Show HN: Provide a short description, get animated character with deep backstory
I like the idea. We are having our first baby soon and this gives interesting stories.

I wish I could send a full narrative somehow.

MASNeo··on Show HN: Voice AI Practice Scenarios for PM Interviews
I build something similar just with a voice chat and the connection drops were the biggest turn off

Also AI lulled me in positive feedback instead of being critical and direct. How would this toll address that challenge?

MASNeo··on Would You Rent a Robot?
Should have been in show. Sorry. If anyone could move that would be great.
MASNeo··on Would You Rent a Robot?
I like robots but with current uncertainty about capabilities I would buy one outright. I would like to rent, but I can’t. So I thought maybe if I am not alone that could be useful to some. It’s a market test, not a product.
MASNeo··on Ask HN: How to deal with requests for "high level" explanations?
> Everyone sees themself as at the "top" of their information pile. Many years ago I felt that people asking "give me the view from 30,000ft" were just lazy and entitled.

That’s exactly how I feel. I do go on and craft stories and make things nice. But after years of doing that I still wonder if all that “simplicity” does any good to the world. All the ignorance and missed learning opportunities…

MASNeo··on Disposable Python environments for ad-hoc analyses
Great to have these improvements! However, it seems the overhead to create the shareable files exceeds the utility for most cases. Would love this work continues until we get a one line „pip share“ and „pip load“ type tooling.
MASNeo··on The Verge now has a subscription
Actually, paid options probably are OK. Paywalls are not great. Locks out plenty of people and furthers social divide.
MASNeo··on The Verge now has a subscription
They say that the move is to keep up their ethics policy. I feel The Verge has had so many „push-to-buy“ articles in the past that paying for the few well written articles makes little sense. So very sadly I am saying goodbye Verge
MASNeo··on Show HN: Rust Web Framework
I can already hear people asking "Did you aRWF already?" Seriously, the migration option is precisely how I think migration for years. Great job!
MASNeo··on Show HN: Ambulate – Detailed Trip Planning
I think this needs a non-registered user page. Not feeling to sign up to just have a look.
MASNeo··on Large language models reduce public knowledge sharing on online Q&A platforms
If an LLM is built upon a wide base of source information, I'm inclined to trust what it generates more than what a single human "professional" or "expert" says. --------- That, and if the prompt to the LLM has been made with a minimum of thought you may get a reasonable answer, perhaps a better one. The consensus is powerful but the two limitations "wide base" and "thoughtful prompt" are big limitations because for specialised fields these limitations apply often. So I am surprise people are inclined to believe the machine more than the human.
MASNeo··on Large language models reduce public knowledge sharing on online Q&A platforms
Wondering about wider implications. If technical interactions reduce online, how about RL and how do we rate a human competence against an AI once society gets a habit from asking an AI first? Will we start to constantly question human advice or responses and what does that do to the human condition.

I am active in a few specialized fields and already I have to defined my advice against poorly crafted prompt responses.

MASNeo··on Xz: A microcosm of the interactions in open source projects
Sadly, this is how it works in many large social systems, left unchecked. The “reasonable consumers” drain the kind contributors until they cannot do this anymore. The curse of kindness strikes in software and other industries alike.
MASNeo··on Ask HN: Did you encounter any leap year bugs today?
One of our reporting systems closed month end reporting yesterday. Made everyone mad until they realized things can still be changed today.
MASNeo··on Meta's new LLM-based test generator
If you had as many monkeys as parameters in LLM they might run your business ;-)

I dread the morning after a night of getting something to work…somehow.

MASNeo··on Meta's new LLM-based test generator
Ok, so test case generation has been around a while and now that it is working, where is the GitHub Action?

Further, please ensure strict privacy of anyone entering the house but at the same time allow for good communication among everyone.

Also, make sure only authorized people can enter or see what’s happening inside and keep everyone very safe from fires, physical harm or other people. Unfortunately, the safety must be accomplished without additional cost or restrictions in use.
