It doesn't even stop with everything being "fun and cool" -- take a look at how dumb social media interaction really is. An infinite stream of stuff that the user just presses "like" or "love" or whatever at, and immediately scrolls / swaps to the next diversion.
كل سنة وانتم طيبين وفي كل خير :)
A really great place and a wonderful house of beautiful thoughts and ideas, one that has been of great benefit to me and has added quite a lot to my life. Thank you so much.
While it's old, it actually fulfills all his needs very well and he has little need for a newer phone... but he can't get new apps, because all of them require at least Android 5.0 (regular Note 3 / Note 3 Neo Single Sim got the update to 5, but not the dual sim). And the applications that are already on the device (Google stuff) actually no longer gets updates, and occasionally pops up "This version is too old! You have to update!" warnings that he can do nothing about..
I had to create a FB account for college, and somehow my account was suspicious according to them. They locked it and said that I needed to provide a picture of my national ID in order to unlock it.
I was baffled and just created another account to be honest.
TITAN X got access to pro drivers shortly after AMD announced the Vega Frontier Edition.
My passion for computer hardware (and to a lesser extent software) comes purely from my childhood, I'd say. It had a great effect, and actually led me to many paths I wouldn't have taken otherwise. Also, I gained non-tech skills as well, like my handling of the English language, for instance.
I can't answer your question, since I have had quite a different experience, but the reason my acquaintances are picking up tech skills is because it's the future and it's where the money is, or because their parents told them to. This is really unfortunate because they don't actually bother picking up any tech skills at all unless they absolutely need it (which is very rare in 2020 due to how everything is so convenient / available). However, I am from a poor country, so I am not the best person to answer this.
Personally, I prefer the old internet. Not only due to what I mentioned, but also because the current internet is just full of messed up things like the current state of social media (really, HN is the only one I tolerate) and how rooted it has become, or how people in general became more afraid of expressing themselves on the internet, and so much more.
Everything is designed to extract the maximum amount of money possible, and ideas are only good if they generate money. And nobody sees anything wrong with that at all, long-term. It's interesting to watch, as someone who comes from a different upbringing.
I don't really think you could rely 100% on AI for creative things like novels. A fundamental problem with AI (in my humble opinion) is that it simply doesn't have a grasp on reality. Unless if you constantly take care to guide it, it will go off the rails very fast.
Personally, when I started to eat moderately when fasting, I started to feel much better. Previously, I would be very tired when breaking the fast... I would be so full that I wouldn't be able to do anything except lie down.
I think that the current trends are due to people nowadays seeing it like a mega celebration, and they see that eating a lot and feeling tired after is just a sign of that celebration. Ramadan is more than just fasting, but I am going off-topic.
By the way, there's a sunnah in Islam to fast Monday's and Thursday's. Some here may find it beneficial.
(Disclaimer: I live in Egypt, which is a Muslim country. However, it's much less strict compared to the others.)
I found some well-regarded online courses, but they had some prerequisites that I needed to study, so I am working on that.
As an amateur writer who is interesting in playing with this -- any tips on how to get started? I tried the AI Playground website, and fed it a premise, but it constantly decides to "go off the rails" so as to speak. I suspect that I am using it wrong, but I am not sure.
It has really great, great potential. I see word processors for writers coming with some sort of AI integrated in the future, sort of like some of Photoshop's tools. This may be a good idea for a project, actually haha.
It's OK to wish to defend your company, but please do not lie; nobody forced you to comment here.
Tech illiteracy is rampant, and many people don't know even the basics of using computers. Not only that, but due to poverty, most don't even have computers and just use mobile phones. For many, this was the first time they got to use a PC/Laptop. A large group just used mobile phones, though. Then you have the internet... it's just not usable for live conferencing, so when they tried it, it was awful.. then the classes were recorded, with low quality and resolution to have small filesizes for private schools. Most public schools basically did away with the whole thing and the kids didn't get any classes at all.
On top of all of that, the educational system (regular education, not the higher education) here is already bad in-class.
In the end, they just decided to cancel the exams, and had the students do a pass/fail research paper about a topic. Although most schools basically just made everyone pass.
Universities were differently handled, though. Also, grade 12 was handled regularly (the students already don't attend school) with regular physical exams since it's an important year.
