LordShredda··on LinkedIn Larpmaxxing
I'd like to think that the slop-alert button is for their own internal measurements and figuring out much of their userbase is just fake
LordShredda··on Elevating Privileges from Firefox to Android Root
Well, I shouldn't have clicked this. This claims to ask for confirmation before running the exploit and my wallpaper hasn't really changed yet
LordShredda··on Microsoft Authenticator to nuke Entra creds on rooted and jailbroken phones
I made the mistake of using them, and now I can't export and move my data to a different authenticator. How could I trust their online backup?
LordShredda··on Finland looks to introduce Australia-style ban on social media
Social media's entire income model is finding out who you are to advertise more accurately. Facebook knows your age down to the day, and if they ask for ID this is them taking even more data.
LordShredda··on How Twitch tamed a million lines of TypeScript
There's a good draft that's buried under all the word soup
LordShredda··on Meta made scam ads harder to find instead of removing them
The issue as I see it is that these searches are run when testers look for them, not on a regular basis. If Facebook can detect them, why let them be displayed in the first place?
LordShredda··on Pasta Cooking Time
Reminds me of nailing jelly to a wall
LordShredda··on Yt-dlp: Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
I'm on mobile, this seems like an actual js interpreter that only does objects and arithmetic. Impressive that it went that far
LordShredda··on All of our lives overlap in the Network Of Time
I'm printing and framing this on my wall
LordShredda··on Tandy Corporation, Part 3 Becoming IBM Compatible
Well, it does make you load the website :^)
LordShredda··on Ask HN: Is the header CSS broken for you?
I really thought it was my firefox beta got updated and i was seeing a layout bug.
LordShredda··on The Cultural Decline of Literary Fiction
It's fun
LordShredda··on The Great Decoupling (Or Why Your Clicks Are Down and Impressions Up)
I have ahrefs blocked from accessing my webserver as they don't consistently respect robots.txt. I suggest everyone do the same.
LordShredda··on We’ll be ending web hosting for your apps on Glitch
I'm only suggesting it because calling my ISP and asking for a static IP + an open port is a hassle. It's only a way to forward ports
LordShredda··on We’ll be ending web hosting for your apps on Glitch
I'd recommend, unfortunately, buying a cheap $200 netbook and running cloudflare tunnel on it. As long as you're relying on other people's computers for hosting you'll keep looking forever
LordShredda··on Thunderscope update: My take: Why open source is better
The quote does say that Altium does it out of the box though? With KiCad you had to write a script and learn how the format works. Could also be introduced as a patch to upstream and have everyone benefit from it, but that's less time spent working on the circuit
LordShredda··on Technical analysis of the Signal clone used by Trump officials
The decision to use a signal knockoff was a planned and managed one, not just on a whim. Who's responsible for managing the phones?
LordShredda··on Presentation Slides with Markdown
There's definitely something to be said about emacs being stuck in time. However, everything under the sun is just a half-baked clone of something emacs already had, except for text-editing :^)
LordShredda··on Google is illegally monopolizing online advertising tech, judge rules
A smaller ad company can afford to have customer support. If there are tens or hundreds then each one can lose customers, better than one massive company that doesn't care or can't afford and would rather keep the money than pay for support.
LordShredda··on Kotlin, Swift, and Ruby losing popularity
Probably enough that the office couldn't afford more than 12 hours?
LordShredda··on PEP 750 – Template Strings (t-strings) have been accepted
Would be useful in that exact case, but would be an absolute nightmare to debug, on par with using global variables as function inputs
LordShredda··on AT&T Email-to-Text Gateway Service Ending June 17
Can you elaborate a bit more on the similarity between MMS and email? I'm curious to know how similar. Is there an MMS RFC?
LordShredda··on Everyone knows all the apps on your phone
But God forbid users learn how to use their device. All of this could be prevented by having the users manually pick the application instead.
LordShredda··on Microsoft Math Solver
There used to be an actual Microsoft math solver, kind of a school version of Matlab. I don't know if they still offer it on the website, but it would've been useful for me back in school
LordShredda··on C Plus Prolog
Would confuse it with the Canadian pension plan :^)
LordShredda··on How a key ingredient in Coca-Cola, M&M's is smuggled from war-torn Sudan
This seems to be a thing with a lot of wikipedia articles on various foods, especially in other languages.
LordShredda··on I found a backdoor into my bed
It's him and that mattress guy, and the whole stereotype of mattress stores being money laundering fronts. What's up with the bed industry in general?
LordShredda··on Customizable HTML Select
How about the literally unusable <select multiple> on mobile? You can't select more than one option on a touch screen...
LordShredda··on History 2701 Wiki
https://getindie.wiki/

A must get, though having an extension perform redirects isn't trustworthy nowadays

LordShredda··on Scryer Prolog NPM package (experimental)
Prolog is such a bizarre language. Part of my undergraduate studies involved learning about various programming paradigms (and new languages) and that included SWI prolog. We covered it as an example of logic programming, in the 21st century, and to this day I do not understand how it remains in current memory.

I've been told it historically was used for machine learning research, but at least lisp had a more natural structure.

I'd like to describe it as programming using a single yet very long ternary operator chain. But I don't think I'm proficient enough to say so.
