This can subsequently be visualized with a tool like gnuplot or Excel.Imagine having windows A, B, C, and D respectively in positions 0, 1, 2, and 3. I'd like to move D into position 1 so they end up in this order: A, D, B, C.
Haven't figured out how to pull this off yet.
We're pushing the envelope on writing high-performance and pragmatic software in Scala. We're in the real-time ad-tech space, which means that we make decisions on lots of data, very quickly (95th percentile latency ranges between 5-15ms on 100k qps for one of our main services, and we can maintain the same stats if we take down half of our servers). We also are rebuilding our analytics platform to provide ever-richer insights into this aggregate data.
If you're a front-end wizard{,ess}, we also have interesting and challenging work for you! Create intuitive visualizations of key performance metrics. Make it simple for account managers to tweak dozens (hundreds?) of possible settings in our backoffice app. You will be instrumental in driving design decisions.
tl;dr -> engineering-driven organization with fantastic people and growth.

This is the thing that's strange to me. Seems as though existing laws against harassment would apply. What is so different about this activity online than offline?

The reason they built their own is because they need more data about the compilation process than Zinc provides.
Following that advice will drastically speed up your compile time while working (obviously, a clean compile will take as long as ever).
val x = new Array[Integer](3) //type inferred for x
x(0) = 1
x(1) = 2
x(2) = 3
for (y <- x if y > 2)
println(y)
The idiomatic way to do this is: val x = Array(1, 2, 3)
That infers the type and sets values in one shot, with fewer characters. Also, using Integer (that's the java.lang.Integer) has been deprecated since 2.8.1 I believe. `Int` is preferred unless you really mean to use `Integer` (e.g. you're using a native Java library).Why? Because learning new programming paradigms is beneficial whether you stick with them or not. And Scala is easier for a Java developer to start with than Lisp or Haskell or Z or anything so foreign.
It is simple to get into because you can start basically like "java without semicolons", and IntelliJ community edition has excellent Scala support.
This is on the same level as adding a CAPCHA if someone comment looks like spam.
If they do go the latter route and give you a real email address, it is really so valuable to you? More likely, your interesting offers will get tagged with the "spam" flag, or auto-deleted by a filter.
