I am sad to say it worked on my Ubuntu server :(
The questions either have subjective answers or are totally trivial.
If that happens, I shall leave Mac just like I did Windows and be forced to use Linux... I can't say I particularly like the new layout of Ubuntu so maybe I should just quite computing completely :'(
I thought it might be worth looking into web workers, but everything seems to interact with the DOM so that's not much help either.
What we are not having problems with is the fact that we only really have a single thread to do everything. All I can say is that I'm glad it wasn't my idea to build it this way.
I used to generate the messages and then insert them into queuing system but for 100k messages I never managed to make this fast... I have managed to queue all these messages in less than half a second using just one MySQL query.
If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know!
People are always slightly surprised by it, in a good way.
"When you do things right, no one will notice you've done anything at all"
Everyone wants to know how it's done, but maybe no one knows :(
I recognise that with the 'cloud', comes simplicity... but I'm not sure if I will ever be able to let go of my own data.
I only need to give one week for my current job, and when I leave, that's probably all I will give.
A few of you said university might be a good route, and I do not disagree - But I'd much rather see how far I get without it, and leave that almost as a last resort.
And I will stick it out! I agree with what all of you have said about finishing a project is still finishing a project, even if it's not something I feel particularly passionate about.
Thanks for the help, everyone :)
