Lihh27··on GitLab announces workforce reduction and end of their CREDIT values
the order here is backwards. publish the package first and let people apply without committing. right now GitLab gets the signal before employees even get the terms.
Lihh27··on Accelerating Gemma 4: faster inference with multi-token prediction drafters
similar idea, but the failure mode is better. a branch mispredict burns cycles. a bad guess here usually just means no bonus tokens. https://arxiv.org/abs/2211.17192
Lihh27··on The text mode lie: why modern TUIs are a nightmare for accessibility
TUIs were supposed to be the simple option. now they're just web apps wearing a terminal costume
Lihh27··on DeepClaude – Claude Code agent loop with DeepSeek V4 Pro, 17x cheaper
the wrapper is basically env var glue. You’re still betting the whole loop on Anthropic's closed client.
Lihh27··on OpenAI's o1 correctly diagnosed 67% of ER patients vs. 50-55% by triage doctors
radiology already had its "AI beats doctors" moment. radiologists are still here. what changed first was the workflow, not the specialty. er is probably next.
Lihh27··on Meta's Pyrefly sabotages competing Python extensions without telling you
Disabling conflicting extensions, sure. Writing to global settings and leaving the mess behind after uninstall is not the same thing.
Lihh27··on GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing
per-request was broken, yeah. but $10 of monthly credits is basically just a prepaid wallet with a reset timer.
Lihh27··on Fast16: High-precision software sabotage 5 years before Stuxnet
heh the key move is the worm. you can't catch it by checking on a second box because there is no clean box.
Lihh27··on Google plans to invest up to $40B in Anthropic
cheaper than finding out their own 40B internal project has no users in two years.
Lihh27··on Over-editing refers to a model modifying code beyond what is necessary
That's the trap though. The moment you approve every step, you're no longer getting the product that was sold to you. You're doing code review on a stochastic intern. The whole 10x story depends on you eventually looking away.
Lihh27··on Meta to start capturing employee mouse movements, keystrokes for AI training
skills.md heh they serialized you into a config file and used it to boot your replacement. could've at least picked a better extension.
Lihh27··on Opus 4.7 to 4.6 Inflation is ~45%
it's worse than a tie. 10x everyone just floods the market and tanks per-unit price. you pay the AI tax and your output is worth less.
Lihh27··on Claude Opus 4.7 costs 20–30% more per session
heh adaptive thinking is letting the meter run itself. they make more when it runs longer.
Lihh27··on Claude Design
> The best design is original, groundbreaking and often counterintuitive

most of those "breakthroughs" were just constraint hacks. no room for a reload button. no room for another menu.

enterprise buyers don't pay for counterintuitive. they pay so the new hire finds save without training.

Lihh27··on Schools Never Taught Critical Thinking: AI Exposed the Lie
schools spent decades training kids to produce the right-shaped answer as fast as possible. AI just plays that game faster.
Lihh27··on Make tmux pretty and usable (2024)
the most tmux thing in the world is that "make tmux usable" is still a genre.
Lihh27··on WireGuard makes new Windows release following Microsoft signing resolution
yeah three projects, one account lock, everyone's users stop getting updates. that's the pattern
Lihh27··on France Launches Government Linux Desktop Plan as Windows Exit Begins
that's the catch with gp/ad. for a lot of orgs the hard part is intune/entra now. swapping the desktop is easy. replacing identity and device management is the real migration
Lihh27··on France Launches Government Linux Desktop Plan as Windows Exit Begins
the license was never the real bill. the control plane was
Lihh27··on Meta removes ads for social media addiction litigation
one tos clause and neutrality disappears. now meta decides which claims get reach
Lihh27··on The Vercel plugin on Claude Code wants to read your prompts
a deployment plugin shipping raw bash command strings off your machine. "actively defend against it" is just normal hygiene
Lihh27··on Muse Spark: Scaling towards personal superintelligence
the blog is the product. investor deck posted as a tech launch
Lihh27··on Microsoft terminates VeraCrypt account, halting Windows updates
heh the same company that controls your secure boot chain just killed the signing account for the tool that encrypts your disk
Lihh27··on Dropping Cloudflare for Bunny.net
heh one bad report gets action. years as a paying customer get you silence. ugly asymmetry.
Lihh27··on I won't download your app. The web version is a-ok
> having an app installed was the only way to send a notification

that used to be true, especially on ios. but web push has existed there for a while now for home screen web apps.

so that explains some of the history... doesn't really excuse today's habit of shipping the web as a second-class client.

Lihh27··on Employers use your personal data to figure out the lowest salary you'll accept
lol, collection is frictionless but opting out is full KYC. tells you exactly what the system is optimized for.

mailing passport scans to the guys who left Struts unpatched for 147M SSNs. what could go wrong.

Lihh27··on My Google Workspace account suspension
you're paying for the privilege of getting locked out by the same algorithm that locks out free accounts. the only difference is you get an invoice.
Lihh27··on My Google Workspace account suspension
The economics make perfect sense once "30 days of a suspended business email with no timely recourse" shows up as a line item. That USB disk and a UPS is looking pretty cheap right about now.
Lihh27··on How many products does Microsoft have named 'Copilot'?
It's a feature, not a bug. If nobody can pinpoint which instance is crashing, you can't confidently figure out if you need to cancel the $19/mo, the $30/mo, or the $39/mo SKU. Obfuscation as a service.
